it just started with sick jokes and she could only laugh it out since she was still young and she did not know that it was a dirty joke. When she was eight, the jokes turned to touch. It was not the excessive touch like feeling her up. No. her stepbrother, who was by the way six years older than her, would put his dirty arm around her and joked at her again. He would pinch her cheeks then caressed her cheeks down to her neck—it was so sick. And Talia could do nothing about it. She was scared that her mother would not believe her if she sold him out. She was afraid of retaliation.

"Or I tell Zane that you slept in my bed until you turned sixteen and that accidents still happened until late into your teenage years." Shirley gasps. "But that's a lie!" I wink smugly at her. "I know, but Zane doesn't need to know that. You know that I'm good at lying and manipulating him. He will believe me." Shirley stares at me. I stare back. We both fall into a laughing fit at the same time, howling at my dark joke. It only gets funnier by the minute. Soon we are both crying like idiots. "Oh-my-fucking-god... Really? REALLY GINA?!" Shirley is wheezing while finding us a parking spot. "You can't make dark jokes like that! You're killing me!"

Definitely. "Nope!" the man replied, cheerful and oblivious. "So, two olives were walking down the street. One fell behind. The other turned and said... 'Olive you!'" A beat of silence. Then came that laugh, loud, unfiltered, like he was the funniest man alive. I gritted my teeth. That laugh again. Like nails on glass. How can someone sound so punchable through a screen? Dante didn’t even respond this time. Just silence on his end. I imagined him pinching the bridge of his nose. Honestly, I was about to do the same. Then he let out a slow breath. "You’ve been banned from joke privileges."

“Hey, no brooding. This is an adventure, not a prison sentence. Let me distract you.” She turned to him, her expression wary. “What are you going to do? Tell me one of your terrible jokes?” “You wound me,” he said, clutching his chest dramatically. “But yes. Absolutely.” He cleared his throat, adopting a serious tone. “Why don’t skeletons fight each other?” Riele blinked, momentarily thrown off. “Why?” “Because they don’t have the guts.” The joke was terrible. Absolutely awful. But Riele burst into laughter anyway, the tension in her chest breaking apart with each giggle. Jay grinned, triumphant, as if her joy were his greatest victory.

Harry responded. There were some moments of silence. “Well, tell me the joke Sidney, I wanna be in”. Miss Diaz said with her eyes fixed on me. “The thing is, the joke doesn’t really make much sense when taken out of the context” I said awkwardly, scratching the nape of my neck. “Hmm I see” miss Diaz responded flatly. “Do you wanna hear a funny joke Harry?” Harry leaned in intently, and I found myself doing so too Miss Diaz’s voice went down in whisper “ Sidney can’t drive”

“I do not fall.” There was a pause. “No,” he said calmly. “You just look very funny while slipping.” The line went dead. I stood there for a long time. Then I began laughing again. Because if I did not laugh, I might start screaming. The televisions behind me kept talking. The city kept moving and for the first time in my life, I understood what it felt like to be the joke. But jokes can turn dark very quickly and I am very good at dark.

A message bubble lit up under his name, cheerful and oblivious. Just another one of his dry, stupid jokes—something about his dinner being so terrible he was convinced the restaurant was trying to assassinate him with undercooked chicken. He'd probably attached one of those ridiculous GIFs he was always finding, something animated and silly that was meant to make me laugh.

He murmured, ruefully. I badly didn't want to see him sad anymore. "Jokes could help.You can tell me jokes" "Jokes"He said more to himself as if thinking of something up. "Well, I think I heard this somewhere,I don't really remember how it starts or ends but the punch line is...'Get lost,you old cargo'!" I grimaced. "So am I supposed to laugh to an half joke?" He pouted."I'm an hopeless joke teller" I couldn't stop myself from laughing not because of his half joke but because of how hopeless he looked.

She may have a bit of stubborn and brat bones in her body. "You could have made it last time too if Lilith didn't made a total worthless joke about breathing in hell which had Grace laughing like a fool ." Emily scoffs remembering their stupidity that night.
