Does The Cat Die Novels & Stories

Its instinct screamed danger, but it was too late. The poison, concealed within the milk by a malevolent hand, worked swiftly. The cat's movements slowed, its vibrant fur dulled, and its breaths grew shallow. With a final gasp, it collapsed, a tragic victim of human folly and cruelty. Silence descended upon the lab once more, broken only by the distant chirping of birds outside. The cat, a mere innocent seeking sustenance, had met its untimely end—a casualty in a world where even the simplest of desires could lead to tragedy.

Now, James should nearly be ready to take over David's place as Alpha and I have wondered over the last few years if Skyler, my little rabbit, had found her mate yet. Now, over the years, I have heard some rumours floating around that Catherine was killed in a rogue attack, leaving David to look after the pups. Now I don't know who true it is, but I have never been able to verify it. I have spies in a whole heap of different packs. Unfortunately, I could never get one into David's pack, especially after the rumoured report of Catherine's death.

“Well, the trial is officially over, with all the living defendants judged,” Kiutter says in a drawl. I stare at him with a frown, my mind slowly processing and understanding that everything is wrong. “Catherine, our last defendant, was just found lifeless in her cell. She committed suicide, leaving no note or farewell. We believe this was due to her wolf and her mate rejecting her on the same day,” he says seriously. “Thank you to everyone who has been with us; the sentences will be carried out within two hours.”

“I thought you...” “Cats and dogs are never afraid of Death. They can always see it, even when I haven't come for them. That's why dogs bark at nothing and cats stare at empty spaces. No, it's the living that terrify them.” Samael sighed, scritching the ancient cat's head. “Now behave yourself, little lion. I promise you, where you're headed, there's an eternal river filled with fish...” With a last, contented breath, the cat died in my arms. I sniffled, tears streaming down my face. Samael closed his eyes, breathing deeply, and a brilliant spark fled the cat's chest and flew into Death's heart.

She didn’t seem like one of the regular people we got off the streets by a long shot. “I think I’m done, Sera said. “I’ll leave you something for the bruises, but you’re stuck with the over-the-counter stuff for painkillers. Downside of not using a real doctor.” Cat flinched. “Is there anyone we can call for you?” I asked. “No,” she said quickly, her eyes suddenly wide. “Don’t call anyone. Everyone I’ve ever known is dead, and no one who knows me calls me Cat.” The door swung open, and Lauren leaned in. Cat sprang over the bed, completely silent, and raced for the window. We kept it locked as a precaution, but she yanked and scratched at it wildly.

I asked and he tilted his head to the side before he gave me a once over like he was trying to read me. “Why do you care about his death, Taylor?” He asked and I paused for a moment. He didn't look a bit surprised to hear that Malcolm was dead. It seemed… almost like he expected it. “You had him killed, didn't you?” I asked him as I narrowed my eyes and held my breath while waiting for his response and he eyed me. “He killed your cat” was his defense and quickly, I took two steps back to stay away from him. “How could you?... How could you just… Why?” I screamed as horror ran through my blood and roared in my head and his face twisted into a grimace while he watched me.

She tilted her head as she continued to say "I'm dead? Kate asked. But it was like she was not asking since she was already very certain that she was dead. "Yes! Yes, you are host! The system, thinking that it seemed he was too excited in expressing that Kate was dead, was silent for a moment. As the system in Kate's head weakly said once again, "Yes, you are dead, host." Kate did not mind the system's awkwardness as she crouched down on the ground gently and poked the glass, confirming her doubts that it was really 'real'.

"And do you know what's going to happen to them all if you do nothing?" I knew. "They'll all die." Catherine's voice was flat. "They'll die without knowing what hit them. Right now, your mother possibly doesn't even know what she's doing. Neither does the vast amount of wolves Selene is calling. They'll be dead. Without even knowing they ever existed." Catherine chuckled, but there was no humor in it. "As much as it's kind of fair for them—because they won't even know, they'll just be gone—you'll be all alone."

"No, mom, go to sleep calmly that nothing happened, it was just a misunderstanding. "Safe? Last night I found out what happened to the Stuart boy. Max I think his name is. I find it too sad that he committed suicide." Mom walks over to me and sits on the edge of my bed. My cat purred on top of me as he knead my stomach with his two front paws. I think he was hungry. "If you ever feel bad, Nish, I want you to tell me. I know I'm hardly home because I'm always working, but..."

I recognized one of them, Detective Arnold, who moved with somber purpose. “Ma’am,” the taller one said, voice low, careful. “We… need to inform you that the suspect—” He faltered, glancing at Chen sleeping on my lap. “Catherine Yu was pronounced dead.” I stared past them, past the bright lights and sterile walls, past the truth I already knew. “She deserved it,” I said quietly. Not bitter. Not angry. Just... hollow. “I saw it. You don’t have to say it.” The silence hung between us like a verdict.
