Somewhere deep beneath Blackwood, a sound rolled through the facility that none of them had heard before, enormous locking mechanisms, ancient and long dormant, disengaging one after another in a slow, deliberate sequence.
The ground trembled.
Then, from everywhere and nowhere at once, a voice filled the facility.
Not Jonathan's.
Something colder, mechanical, utterly unfamiliar.
"Authorization confirmed. Ark awakening."
Everyone froze.
Isaac slowly lifted his head, his face draining of color as the words settled over him.
"That wasn't Jonathan," he whispered.
