HIS DARKEST SHADE BOOK-THREE ~Prologue~ “Even if you end up hating me for it.” His tone was vicious. “I might scare you,” he continued, his gaze roaming over her trembling form, “but they are far worse—formidable, vicious… and willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want.” He gestured toward her. “Including you.” “Never.” She shook her head, her voice trembling but firm. “I’m not scared of your words. You’re just trying to scare me so I’ll listen to you!”

“I hate every one of you. “I never want to see any of you again.” Then the light swallowed me. And I disappeared from the shifter world for good. --- Three years had passed since I returned to my own world. At first, I still woke from nightmares, trapped again in that other life. But work grew busier. Time moved on. Slowly, the memories faded. The shifters’ faces blurred until they no longer seemed real. Sometimes, I wondered whether it had all been nothing more than a nightmare.

Her eyes find mine, wide and fearful, and something inside me steadies. She’s the reason I fight. Why I bleed. Why I’d die before letting this pack fall. The ice in my very veins melted as he grew even taller than he normally was and more muscular,ripping Zephyros's tunic in the process. I staggered backwards and tripped on a branch. I fell backwards on my rump and even the sting was not enough to take my eyes off him.
