Below, the lower gate of the wolf training court opened, and two younger Dominion students entered carrying blunted practice blades. Their voices rose faintly, distant and irrelevant. The normal rhythms of the academy were returning. Theron wanted no part of them. Maelik shifted closer. “So, what are you going to do?” Before Theron could answer, pain hit him, sharp and immediate. He jerked upright, every muscle locking as a pulse of heat tore through his chest and down his spine. Ruin surged awake with a snarl, claws scraping against the inside of his skin.

This Academy had always existed to train the future elite of the shifter world—future Alphas, Betas, Gammas, commanders and warriors. Today they had proven they deserved those titles. My chest tightened with pride. "They're becoming the leaders they're meant to be." Sol followed my gaze. "They're learning sooner than they should." There was sadness in his voice. The Dragon Kingdom had always protected the Academy. It was supposed to be a place where future leaders learned strategy, diplomacy and combat. Not a battlefield. Beatriz approached carrying another report. "No casualties." I released a slow breath. Again. Buildings had been damaged.

I smile. “You too.” Callie smiles back. “Your locker...” He starts. “It’s the locker of the actual devil himself, Killian Saunders.” He explains. “Who is this dude? Why is everyone asking me if he’s my brother?” I snap. “We cannot mention him who shall not be named on school grounds Trey!” Callie shrieks. “Callie, he needs to know like everyone else here.” He replies calmly. “Apparently according to his detailed description he looked a lot like you but with black hair and blue eyes. You even have his dress sense.” He adds.

Unlike The Sanctum of Mirrors surroundings, the Obsidian Crescent exuded an air of menace. The dark stone walls were etched with glowing runes, and the grounds pulsed with chaotic energy. Inside the academy’s central hall, Selene, the formidable leader of the rival school, stood before a gathering of students. Her black hair cascaded like a waterfall over her sharp shoulders, and her piercing silver eyes held the room captive.
