The rest of the group follows as we make our way closer to the fire. She reaches for an a piece of ember bark that sits in a bowl near the fire. Lyra takes a deep breath, and throws the ember bark into the fire. "I'm afraid I will never be enough." she says so softly I almost don't hear her. The ember bark burns so brightly I have to look away. My gaze collides with Callan who has a blonde sitting comfortably on his lap. Something ugly burns in my stomach. I force myself to look away, and direct my attention back to the fire. My thoughts begin to spin as I try to settle on what fear I'm going to give up.

It looked inviting in the midst of the storm, a beacon amidst the uncertainty of their lives. “There it is,” Maya said, releasing a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. “Home for now.” They hurried towards the cabin, and George opened the door, leading them inside out of the rain. The interior was simple yet welcoming, the smell of old wood mingling with the fresh scent of rain. A flickering fireplace sat in the corner, small but casting a warm glow that chased away the chill of the night. Elora stepped in last, feeling the warmth seep into her bones. “It’s…nice,” she said, looking around. “I didn’t expect it to feel so…comfortable.”

The ride was quiet, but the tension began to ease as the familiar scenery of Crestwood passed by. After a short drive, they reached a dense forest. Damon parked the truck and led Aqua along a narrow, winding path. The trees grew thicker, the air cooler, and the sounds of the town faded away. Finally, they emerged into a clearing that opened up to a breathtaking view. They stood on a high ridge, and below them lay the entire town of Crestwood, the rooftops and streets stretching out like a miniature model. "Welcome to my special spot," Damon said, a hint of pride in his voice. "I've been coming here since I was a kid. It's a great place to think and just... be."

So even if I'm not throwing fist, I still understood how Dreyden was feeling. I watched three more rounds pass before I let myself say anything. They were around 3,000 members and they knew Falling Stardust had only 400 combat mages and most of them were out hunting.
