Ransom "Here!" I command Rambo as the two of us walk into the Laurel Springs Police Department. We're about to go on-shift and he's excited. Always is as soon as he sees me put my shoes on and grab my vest. He's a work dog and loves to do so. The minute we pull into the parking lot, he's whining, dying to get out of my truck, and barking with excitement. From the depths of the earth, a sound emerged—a low, rhythmic, heartbeat-like thumping that grew louder with every passing second. Thump-thump. Thump-thump. The commander stepped back, his face draining of color. "That… that’s impossible. That sound is a myth."

If only he's not a medicine student, I wouldn't even want to bring him here cause I know that he'll be reacting like this. He snatched the recorder and hit the play button without hesitation—the audio played back, every word crystal clear. Ella's voice was laced with malice as she snarled, "It's funny how she's usually fine until it's time for the outdoor orientation boot camp. Who are you putting on this performance for, Wanda?" Joseph snapped with icy indifference, "You'd better get lost if you're going to play possum! You're just dragging us down with you!" Ella's voice was full of arrogance as she tried to force me to my knees. "You refuse to grovel, huh? If you don't, I'll smash this pathetic bottle under my boot! I'll let that faking bitch breathe her last right now!"

With as soft sigh, I faced him. We started training the moment I returned from my parent’s place. The first agenda was controlling my command, choosing when to use it and when not to. It was hard as hell, harder than separating salt and sugar mixed together. But I got the basic hang of it yesterday. Inhaling deeply, I switched into command mode. “Xav, pick the pen up.” He picked it up immediately. I released the command, which was even harder. It deepens into the roar of a lion, endlessly with power, unleashing its fury. The deadly command begins to fight as well, increasing in volume evenly. My head and heart are pounding. It looks like I'll be deaf for the next few days.

The command in Jamari’s voice comes out strong, even for me. The Undead Army drops to their knees as one, bowing their heads slightly in Jamari’s direction. The General gives my shoulder a shove, drawing my attention back to his body beneath me. I move myself off of him and watch in wonder as he moves to bow at Jamari’s feet. “Get back up and fight!” Osiris commands, disbelief in his voice.
