A small, real smile touched his lips, the first one I had seen in weeks.
"You will spoil him," Theo said, walking up to the counter. He wiped the juice from Liam's chin with his thumb, and Liam leaned into his hand with a happy hum.
"He is my son," I said, sliding the eggs onto a blue plate. "I am allowed to spoil him."
Theo looked at me, his eyes soft and warm. The panic from yesterday was gone, replaced by a quiet peace. He reached out and locked his fingers with mine, his gold wedding ring pressing against my skin.
