I'm sure I look mortified as I stand up, "Hi, my names Bec and I'm from Livingston" I look around the room as I speak. It's hard not to notice all the kids giving each other pointed looks. "Well hello Bec it's so nice to meet you darlin, you can take your seat again," her thick Texas accent is almost too overwhelming for me. Luckily, she launches straight into the class without any further questions. I pretend to follow along while subconsciously doing little drawings around my book, trying my hardest not to think about the boy with raven hair.

I remembered the way she was so fond of Esther back at Starlight.

Tonia lets out a deep sigh, sinking into the couch and finding relief for her tired back. "Esther, I've noticed you've been quiet today. I just wanted to check in and make sure everything is okay." Mrs. Tonia inquires, they all gaze at Esther. Esther has a beautiful dark complexion, a round face, and a distinct nose. Like Glory, she also has a fuller figure, although Glory has a lighter brown skin tone. "I'm okay, mom," Esther manages to reply, and she gets up to have her breakfast as well.

Marcus whispers, “Her name is Vera. She was Elena’s second. After Elena went to prison, she took control of the network.” Vera strides towards the building where Esther stood just moments ago, her men spreading out to check for bodies and look for survivors. “Esther was supposed to deliver the children,” Vera says dispassionately. “Find her.” “Over here,” one of the men calls out, having discovered Esther’s body. Vera walks over to it, observing without any change in her expression. “She was always too sentimental.” She kneels to pick up something from the ground—Esther's photograph of the children. “She was supposed to bring the girl. Shane asked. "She said it was through one of her friends but I don't know her," the woman responded. Shane brought up his phone and showed the woman Trevor's picture. "Do you know him?" He asked. "No," the woman said as she stared at the picture. "Esther worked for this man and she pretended to be dumb for a good six years until she killed the man and almost killed his wife," Shane said. "What!? Esther will never do that… I have to see her," Mrs Zealot said and prepared to leave for the city.

“Oh.. Mrs. Vaughan, I didn’t realize—” “You didn’t need to.” She gave him a polite smile, then turned to me. “Come, dear. Let’s go somewhere quieter.” The whispers began as soon as we walked past the desk. Bianca Calloway. The founder’s daughter. Esther led me to her office on the second floor. It was warm, softly lit, a blend of modern and memory. The framed photos of my father on the wall made my throat tighten. “Sit,” Esther said gently. “You look tired.”

Esther nearly smirked at the expression on the woman's face. She wished that she could caption that look on Alicia's face forever, then she would have and she would replay them in her brain every day. But alas, it was an impossible task. "Are you sure about what you just said?" The coven leader asked her. "Yes," Esther responded in a loud voice. She was a little proud of herself because of the discovery she had made. But when she heard Alicia scoff, she knew that the woman didn't believe her even before she heard the words.
