She sits up straight in her chair, leaning in. I nod. “Well, imagine something like one of those beasts—the long snout, pointy fangs, enormous tongue that doesn’t quite fit, uncontrollable slobbering, mangy fur, and these evil-looking unholy eyes. Imagine being caught somewhere between that wolf-like creature and a human. Mangled, twisted bones set at strange angles with patches of skin and tufts of fur.” I shake my head, my stomach turning just thinking about it. No, I can’t allow her to see me. Bexley isn’t leaning away from me. She doesn’t get up and dart out the door. Instead, she reaches a hand across the table. My paw lies within her reach. I want to pull it away, but I don’t.

The flame flickered to life, casting its warm, insistent glow over the amulet. "Oh, I believe you," I murmured, holding the amulet to the flame. "I believe you're a spineless man, greedy enough to keep a foot in both worlds."

Curling up under the warm duvet, my hands scuffle against some turbulent bare skin that is inevitably neither mine nor is it appealing at all to mine. I peel my eyes in a snap, catching the blinding luster of the befalling morning rays, and my gazes stumble upon with Ajay's owl-like eyes perched on my face. Sigh!

I watched impassively as he collapsed onto the spread of glass shards on the floor. His embrace used to bring me warmth and comfort. Now, it brought me nothing but disgust. Marcus couldn't care less about the fresh injuries he got from the shards. He shifted to his knees and began crawling toward me slowly. Two long trails of blood extended from behind him. He thought he could cancel out the damage he had inflicted on me by getting hurt himself. Soon, Marcus hugged me once again, his senses completely overwhelmed by panic and anxiety. He buried his face into the crook of my shoulder as he began whimpering sadly.

LUCIEN AFOLAYAN At exactly two in the morning, my massive frame stands perfectly still inside the private study of the stronghold, my golden alpha eyes gazing out the reinforced glass window. The midnight moon is completely hidden behind a dense wall of pitch-black storm clouds, a environmental layout that fills my inner beast with a heavy, dangerous wave of unease.

Kat gulped audibly when she saw that his dark eyes were also focused on her lips. Reality came crashing down like ice water. In the next instant, she flipped him onto his back, catching him off-guard. She scrambled to her feet and was making her way towards the exit when the room erupted into boisterous cheers. The onlookers were congratulating the man who had managed to best ‘The Beast’…if only for a few minutes.

They collapsed to the ground the moment they saw the Iron-clawed Blue-scaled Eagle. "Old man, this is a level 5 demonic beast. We have to reconsider the reward." Chu Xun looked at Harry mockingly. Without waiting for old Harry to speak, he waved his hand, and the Blue-headed Golden-eyed Beast walked over to him. "Old man, check the goods." He glanced at old Harry meaningfully. With its lantern-sized eyes wide open, the Blue-headed Golden-eyed Beast stared at old Harry, as if it were thinking about what goods this old man was going to inspect.

I say in Greek, hoping Bronx won’t understand it. The cover of the book stretches and creeks, until a bulge forms below the embossed title. The bulge grows until it looks like a closed eyelid. I take off the dragon scale glove and run my hand close to the surface, careful not to touch it. When it senses me just an inch away, the eyelid snaps open, exposing a crisp apple green eyeball. It looks around, surprised to be awakened until it lands on me and watches, waiting for instructions. “What the fuck?” Bronx lets go of my hand and backs up until his back is against the door. “Kas, tell me that’s not what I think it is. It’s some sort of replica or some shit. Tell me that’s not real.”

At her word, the beast growled with rage and irritation. “In return, I promise that he won’t seal you away and free you whenever you desire. And I-I will love you as much as I love Onyx.” Her word froze him on his spot and his golden eyes plunged at her trying to learn the truth. She lifted her hand to touch his silky looking fur but he slightly moved back and hissed. Ophelia's eyes widened as she drew her hand back. She locked her gaze on the beast as he scrutinized her. She could feel four pairs of eyes on the back of her head, watching her and the beast interact. She swallowed as the time felt excruciatingly slow. When the beast leaned in and rubbed his massive head on hers, his eyes wide
