Filipino Mythology Books Novels & Stories

Good day, dear readers. Since we have been on the subject of the Philippines Islands, I think we should continue on that theme... Besides its beautiful sunsets, Manila Bay is also famous for its “sirenas” or “mermaids”… during my time that is. I’ve listened to countless people back then, telling stories of seeing “something” swimming through the waves of the then clear and clean waters of Manila Bay. The local comic book story Dyesebel had its origins in these countless mermen and mermaids folklore as well. Besides, this isn't the only place in the world that boasts of mermaid sitings so one has to wonder, right?

He smiled and scooted closer, nodding again as I turned the final page and cleared my throat.

Phil was excited as he wanted to know what the contents of the mysterious pages were. Phil took the stack of bond paper and proceeded to read it while Samantha was beside him waiting to finish reading it. The paper talks about the things Phil needed, more information about the abyss, and the miasma. It talked about how the miasma is supposed to be the blood from a godlike creature imprisoned in the farthest depth of the abyss and how it corrupted its surroundings creating nightmarish creatures. Phil was a little disappointed at first because the information might be interesting it was no use for him right now until he read the third page.

A good place to read and study. After placing my things on the seat, I make my way straight to the mythology section of the library. In this part of the place, you could see different kinds of myths; Greek, Norse, Asian and more. Upon scanning the title of the displayed books, my eyes were caught by a familiar author, Priam. I hurriedly extend my hand to reach for the book, but another hand grab onto it first. I turned my head to the direction of the owner of that hand, it was a man just a little bit inches taller than me.

Maybe this situation was actually nice since no ghost would awaken him from his sleep this time. 'That headless priest sure looked scary. But at least, it's not very heartless. It allowed this guy who obviously lacked sleep to get some rest.' Leyte shrugged, then went back to the living room to read the book. The font was neither English nor Filipino alphabet. It seemed to be Baybayin, the writing system of ancient Filipinos. Amongst mortals, only the owner could read the book. Each time they did, memories of the deceased would pop up in their head. Then the deceased would appear in their lives as a ghost.

Cade’s eyes glittered with excitement at my words, something I hadn’t seen in him since his mate passed and it made my soul spring with joy for him, for his healing. “Yes. We have many of those.” He got up and went to another room, it didn’t seem we needed to follow him so we waited for him to return. He brought back five very large books. “These are just a few, but it goes into depth on origins, incarnations, offspring, some have been viewed more as myths of course. But then again, we hadn’t realized how they were already among us.” He explained as he dropped them on the desk. “Is there anything you can tell me?”

“Stay here. I’ll find a book for you to read for me.” “Sure,” Chan replied, making herself comfortable on the bed. This is nice, she thought in delight. Putting her feet up was truly wonderful. Lilly returned with a book, and Chan wasn’t surprised it was one she’d written. It was the second book of the Sacred Sword series. She wondered if Lilly understood about the Naga’s world where monsters like the Naga and Garuda resided. It was Hindu mythology and rarely known or understood by the western world. “You can read me this one,” Lilly said.

Myrna said sadly. "The fairy book? Isn't that the one I read this morning?" Lilly asked excitedly. Unfortunately, Myrna shook her head sadly. "No Luna. What you are reading is a book about Myth Heaven and all its inhabitants. But what I mean is The Books of Fairies, The Spirit of Elden Wood. The book contains information about fairies who live in the Elden Wood forest. Complete information but also bring disaster." She said sadly. Everyone there fell silent. They understood what Myrna meant. Some take advantage of the information there.

"We are fairies, Luna. And you are one of us." Wait, did she just tell her she was one of them? Meaning, a fairy?! Her? A F-A-I-R-Y?! Written all over Luna's face was disbelief. How can she be a fairy?! --------------------------------- A/N: Bathala - a god in Philipine mythology
