She glanced at the fountain first before she looked at Theo. "I wanted to show you this special and sacred place in hopes that you will understand me and the way we live, even just for a little." Theo said with all seriousness. Maddie just nodded to urge him to continue. "This flame was revived when the war from a long time ago was put to an end. Since then, this flame was not on the verge of dying out." "Wait." Maddie even put her hand up to stop Theo from speaking. "What does the war have to do with the flame? Is the war about putting water in it?" Maddie was serious but Theo chuckled on her question which made her brows knot.

Amerie growled and erected a wall of orange and yellow flame on either side of him, leaving only a small opening for her to step through. “I’m sick and tired of these lies. I don’t want to play these games anymore. I’m DONE!” The inferno surged around her and her forearms became engulfed in white flames. Embers swirled around her. She’d do it. She’d burn the world down to keep him from her friends. She’d burn the camp and force the Ancients out so she could face them. She’d light it all ablaze and let the flames take her, too. They’d taken enough as it was. Maybe it would burn through her pain and grant her sweet release from this hell.

“He feeds on your fear and doubt. You must banish both.” I swallowed hard and closed my eyes, diving inward to the part of me that still believed, still hoped. The memories of my father’s kindness, my mother’s gentle touch, the fierce loyalty of my pack—they all became fuel for the Flame. It flared brighter, swirling around my arms and chest like liquid fire. Nytheras roared, a sound that shook the very foundation of this place, and surged toward me. I barely had time to react, feeling the icy chill of his claws grazing my skin before I unleashed the Flame in a blinding wave.
