When we get out of the car, I place my hand on my forehead. "I think I'm coming down with a headache. I need to get some rest."

ALEJANDRA. I wake up feeling disoriented. When I open my eyes, Forrest’s face is directly in front of mine. I grin, seeing him. But then I notice it’s still dark outside. He shakes me gently, trying to wake me. “Get up and pack a bag,” Forrest says. I blink a few times and look at him. “Where are we going?” But Forrest doesn’t answer. He just walks out the door, leaving me half asleep on my bed.

Sighing softly, I turned back to Forrest’s stoic back and reached out a hand to touch him but drew back at the last second, he could still be asleep, he could still be angry at me and lash out. I swallowed against the lump in my throat and turned away from him, closing my eyes tightly I hate this, I hate every minute of this. I didn’t know when I fell asleep, I just woke up to the soft rustling of clothes. I turned, wiping the sleep from my eyes and found the sun fully risen, the bright morning rays streaming in through the window and illuminating the open and almost full suitcase on the bed, in the space where Forrest laid sleeping a few hours ago.
