Alicia, still dripping and looking utterly miserable, tried to defend herself. "Mom, Dad, I didn't—" But before she could finish, Harvey cut her off. "Yunice's been in the entertainment industry for years. God only knows how filthy her heart is! Why would anyone believe her?" Alicia curled up in his arms, a faint, mischievous smile tugging at her lips as she shot me a provocative look.

Karen sneered, disgust evident in her voice, “We stopped being friends a long time ago, Gemma. Hence, I don’t understand why you think you can just pick up the phone and call me today.” Gemma ignored the coldness in Karen’s voice, and she asked with a curious, gossipy tone, “I heard that Maddox is sending the betrothal gifts to his girlfriend today. Who is she, Karen?” Karen's brow furrowed in irritation at the prying question. Her voice turned instantly sharp as she replied, “It's none of your business, Gemma.” Without waiting for her response, Karen removed the phone from her ear and dropped it back into her purse, refusing to let Gemma's petty curiosity spoil her day.

-POV Karen Miller We are already outside the club, and the car is waiting for us. The same car where that happened. “I’m not going in there!” I cross my arms and look at the movement, seeing if I have a chance to run. “Don’t even think about running, Karen!” take my arm. "What do you want from me? I have nothing. We just had sex, that's all, I don't want anything else, you have no right to act like that. What are you? Some maniac? Will kill me?"

Karen said. “You seem pretty close to them, huh?” I said. “Isn’t Kael jealous?” Karen chuckled. “Jealous? He’s never jealous of anyone. He’s too confident in himself, and what’s there to be jealous about? I never meant to hurt him, and he knows that.” I nodded, taking another sip. “That’s good. At least one of us has things figured out.” Karen bumped my shoulder lightly. “You’ll figure it out too. Whoever this girl is, if she matters that much, don’t let her go without a fight. Life’s too short for regrets.”

"Read it. Tell me if the number works." Elena wasn't expecting to be offered a job right after she got laid off, but Dr. Karen was an impatient woman who couldn't wait to have her on her team. Dr. Karen didn't even know she'd been laid off, instead, she was suggesting that Elena resign from Lunaris Tech.

Only Karen had nowhere to go. She found a secluded corner and undressed. Then she changed into a short and walked back to the bus stop. If she got lucky, she would get a shelter and food the next morning. A few minutes later, a white Sedan pulled off, and an Afro-American pushed his head from the wheels. “Waiting for someone?” Karen smiled seductively and walked to the car. “Waiting for you, hon.” He pushed the door of the car open. “Hop in for a ride.”
