After a long, suffocating silence, Elena laughed bitterly. “Mr. Salvatore,” she said mockingly, “aren’t you contradicting yourself? You once told me a woman like me didn’t deserve to sit in your car. Aren’t you afraid I’ll dirty it?”
His eyes flicked toward her, glacial and unreadable. “You still haven’t learned when to keep quiet,” he said in a low, dangerous tone.
