I know what they want, but I’m not going to be the first to volunteer it. “Pancakes? Omelets?” No one answers. “Gosh, I hope it’s not chicken.” The urge to meow comes to mind, and I can’t help but laugh. “What the hell is so funny?” Reece asks. “Oh, it’s an inside joke,” I tell them. “You would’ve had to be there.” “An inside joke between you… and Rose?” Tristan asks, and I can see in his eyes that he’s jealous. He finally found his voice, while I quickly forced out a smile, pretending like I didn’t just say that same word. “Oh my goodness, I can’t believe I just called her that in your presence. It’s actually nothing serious… we call ourselves that sometimes, but no one wise is allowed to do so. I should have known you would be surprised. That’s why I said it in my head. I didn’t know I was thinking out loud. I guess I’m now so comfortable with you that I can share my inside jokes with you.” I chimed in, but he still didn’t look too convinced.
