I taunted him. "Nothing is enough," he huffed. "Should I break your skull or chop off your finger? And then, you can imagine the 'oh ho ho ho' tone in your mind in the background," I jokingly threatened him. (Oh ho ho ho is a song that's widely used as a meme for depicting sad or fucked up situations in India) "What the fuck? I am upset and crying over here and you're imagining about a meme in such a serious situation?" He complained.

But then, something came over him, and the laughter bubbled right on out. It was an extraordinary thing actually… that he could find anything funny right now, with so much going on. The fact that it was his vehicle getting annihilated, well that was just plain insane. But he had pictured her laughing and snorting, running around and trying to be quiet while abusing his hummer… and that was just about the funniest shit he’d ever imagined.

VINCE "Joy has a habit of talking to herself?" Mum asked, her voice cracking because of her laughter. I nodded, "She does. A lot." Joy couldn't stop laughing either and neither could Richard. For the past half an hour, every one of us brought up stories that had our stomachs hurting. "Well, it's not weird at all. Richard here has a habit of farting when he's nervous." We were becoming hopeless.

And so, on and on ,like the osscilation of a pendulum, the disheartening piece of my bio churned while the sands of time dripped slowly and slowly as it watched my narration irks the soul of the spectators. That I thought, but it appeared to be nothing but a blunt lie. It was a revolving piece of gags and laughs. A piece of funny cake, a chunk of interesting cheese, a loaf of an adventurous bread and a real ginger to the spirits of the audience. They applauded.

Both of them end up entangled in a comedic display of limbs and laughter. The room reverberates with unbridled amusement, our laughter echoing off the walls. Tears stream down our faces as we struggle to catch our breath, the hilarity of the situation overwhelming us. “Be careful.” It was our cheesy…joke, routine, whatever. She couldn’t remember when they'd started but it was a thing. The more banal the activity (“I need to go to the loo”), the funnier it got. Right now, even though she wasn’t exactly going off to fight aliens or sacrifice her life in service to her country, it was hard not to take it a bit seriously. Which made no sense because…she was going to meet a guy, they were going to have a polite conversation, he was maybe going to donate some money to Spring Well, and then she was never going to see or think of him again.

And though the evening had been fraught with awkwardness and discomfort, she couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude for the laughter and camaraderie that had ultimately emerged from the chaos. And so, with a smile and a shake of her head, Rachel resolved to embrace the absurdity of life, knowing that even in the most awkward of moments, there is always room for laughter and lightheartedness.
