I opened my phone and saw another message from him, which made me smile. "I'm waiting for the client; sorry for neglecting you the past few weeks; been busy with work," he texted. "You don't have to tell me anything. Did you forget I work there as well? "I responded, teasing him. I waited about five minutes for a response from him, and the first thing I saw was the laughing emoji at the beginning of his text message. "Of course you are, promise; I would really make amends; we could go out of town, or even out of the country," he texted.

I went into my archived messages and started texting. “Hey Roy” I texted, “Hey Emma” he replied. Roy was someone I met just a few weeks ago in one of the parties I was invited to and since then, we have been getting close. “What are you doing tonight?” I texted. “Nothing, just gonna N*****x and chill I guess?” he replied. Relief filled my chest when I saw him left a message… and a shit ton from the freaking witch. I ignored Eugene’s text and proceeded to open Juno’s messages first. I go online and check out their statuses, well they seem happy, really happy. The message notification from Robert stared back at me, and I eagerly tapped on it. The message was filled with stickers of "Call me" plastered all over. I couldn't help but giggle; it was so typical of Robert to use stickers to make his messages more urgent and playful. He knew it would make me call him immediately. Each sticker was a different bright color, some with exaggerated hand gestures pointing to the phone icon, others with animated characters jumping up and down. It was a lighthearted touch that momentarily lifted the weight of the morning off my shoulders.

“Did he text you at all?” Alex did not recall seeing any messages this morning. He shuffled into his pocket for his phone. “I don’t think so. Let me check.” He flipped the phone open. There were no notifications on the screen to inform him that he had any messages, but he opened up his message folder anyway and sure enough there was a text from his friend Danny. “Huh, how did I miss that?” he said, looking over the text. It was a short message that read, ‘Yo, I ain’t gonna be in school today. Had a rough morning lol.’ Alex snickered as he read his friend’s text. “That was kind of an unearned ‘lol,’" he mumbled as he put his phone away.
