3 Months Later Today was a very special day. It was the one year anniversary that Mike and I have been officially dating. I was busy getting ready since Mike said he was taking me out. “I checked the locks three times last night. I watched the monitor until 4 AM. I jumped when Bear barked at a squirrel. So no. Not okay.” “Good,” Susan said. Nodded. “If you were okay Day 7, I’d worry. Day 7 is for checking locks. Day 30 is for forgetting. Day 56 is for—” “Day 56 is for court,” Adrian said. Walking over. Leaning into frame. Isla on his hip. Sauce kiss on his cheek. “June 2nd.” “Day 56 is for winning,” Susan said. Hard. “Then Day 57 is for forgetting. Deal?”

"What?" Caleb asked like a kid who was being scolded for no reason. "We all don't know our birthdays, we just know the months in which we were born, so we just pick any day of that month and celebrate." Finn answered nonchalantly but his words pierced through her heart as she felt their pain and it hurts her.
