Then, stopping his move right next to the White Queen, he settled the piece and looked up at his competitor. "Oh, she did?" His playmate, an older man in his seventies, countered that move by moving the White Queen to eliminate the pawn.

“But since you’ve already lied, I’ll go straight to the point. Have you ever sat down and thought about how lucky these pawns are?” Xavier stared at the eight pawns lined up in front of the board, wondering when being on the front line for battle started counting as luck. “I haven’t,” Xavier said. “Tell me.” “The battle starts,” Draymond smiled, moving the white pawn in front of the king two spaces forward. “And then the pawns are already at risk.” He moved the black pawn in front of the queen two spaces forward as well. He turned to Xavier. “Just like that two pawns are dead and you’re wondering why you chose to become a pawn in the first place.”

“What if she does not?” “Then you will remain trapped. Until you can start thinking with your brain.” She didn’t like it. That much was clear. But she nodded anyway, because what choice did she have? “That’s my girl,” I whispered, and before she could speak again, I turned my back to her and walked away. Because the thing about pawns… you don’t need them to be loyal. You just need them to be desperate. And desperate, Sienna was. Which made her the perfect piece to keep on the board.

Moonbeams from the night blurred into the room, blending with the warm LED lights designed into the walls and the corner lights spread across the space. "How does one even play this?" I asked, turning to see that Kai had left his work and was strolling toward me. He followed my gaze to the life-sized chessboard with equally life-sized pieces. "You simply use those." He pointed, and when he reached me, he let me see the remote. Pressing down a button, the first pawn moved. "That's sick." My brows raised, my jaw practically landing on the floor for the thousandth time. "I know, right?" Kai laughed.

Seeing the flushed face of the little girl, he smirked in satisfaction. "The price." John embraced Diana's waist, displaying a possessive posture, and glanced at the astonished store owner nearby. "Huh? What?" The petrified man finally regained his senses. Facing John's icy gaze, he trembled and stuttered, "One chess piece costs $15,000. There are 16 white pieces and 16 black pieces in one set, making a total of 32 pieces per set, and there are two sets in total... Please wait a moment while I calculate."

The girl was right. Without looking at Elizabeth, still feeling the pressure of the smile that spread all over her face, the boy approached the door to see what the other signs were. At the top of the door was a row of cubes that had on four of their faces a pawn, a knight, a castle and a bishop drawn. Underneath that row were four other cubes that had on four of their faces drawn a fire spitting horse, a swirling horse, a horse letting out steam through its nostrils, and a horse swimming.

"I'm not exactly sure how to get to the pack's dining room yet." He relaxed his demeanor and smiled. "You must be Allie-Jean. My name is Peter. I'm Jaedon's Beta. I'll walk with you to the dining room. It's a quick walk." I fell into line next to him and we were both silent as we made our way out of the pack house and down a simple stone road. It was warm and sticky, the sun beaming down on me with intensity. I shielded the sun from my eyes and sped up, trying to keep up with Peter. I was surprised he could walk so fast as he wasn't much taller than me and his legs were pretty stumpy.

Conan took the G1 knight and moved to E7. Shadow’s lips twitched. She lifted her gaze toward Conan, sending a psycho signal before looking down on her chess pieces. Conan's neck was covered in goosebumps. The lord was planning something and Conan hated it. Shadow started to plan her sacrifice. First, she had to sacrifice the knight first, so the F3 knight took on the D4 pawn. Conan gasped. He had two attackers which were his C6 knight and G7 bishop while Shadow had one defender D5 knight and if Conan took the white knight, they would go to the queen.

Her level was similar to that of a kindergarten. The security guard's face turned awkward. With their level of chess playing, how could the two of them still enjoy it? The key is that when it's clearly time to capture a piece, the master seems to have not seen it at all, always managing to avoid it perfectly, prolonging the duration of the game indefinitely. The gatekeeper let out a weak sigh. He felt embarrassed. Finally, he couldn't help it and reminded Theo, "Sir, you can be a general now."

"Kyara… what did you—" Before he could continue, the earth beneath the obelisk burst apart, allowing blinding light to stream forth. A person appeared, its body shrouded in shadow and flame. "Well done," it replied, with a low, mocking purr. "The pawn finally learns to play." Eric moved in front of me, using his body as a shield. "Stay back," he hissed, his claws prepared. The creature chuckled, sending cold through my veins. "Oh, Alpha, you do not comprehend. "She is already mine."
