He puffed out smoke from his wrap of smoke before fixing his gaze on Giovanni.

Before, I would always limit the time Luigi spent playing games, worried it would affect his studies. That was probably one of the reasons he disliked me. I nodded. "It's great. Go play." He looked at me, surprised, but he didn't think much of it. He happily ran off. A moment later, Giovanni walked in. "Chichi, there's a lot going on with the family. I have to head out again.
