The elder vampire turned around, with the gun still in his hand, and pulled the trigger. Mason's eyes widened and he gasped as the vervain bullet pierced through his skin and became lodged in his chest. He staggered back and fell to the ground, unmoving. Harley screamed as Demitri pulled the trigger two more times to triple the dosage of vervain; making it impossible for Mason to break through.

Devin sighed and gave me a pity look. “He’ll come around.” He assured me. “In the meantime, it’s a beautiful day and the sun is up. You wanna go for a walk?” he asked and shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal, only if he knew what he just did. He just invited a vampire for a walk, in the sun. Good thing I’m a day lighter. “Sure.” I said and stood up from the chair I was seated. “So, what do you wanna talk about?” He asked swinging his arms beside him while staring at my face making me a little more uncomfortable than I already am.

She reached for the drapes, and pulled the cord. As she did, she jumped back in fright. Standing outside, its face to the window, was the pale, white face of a vampire, completely bald, fangs extended and right up against the glass. It snarled and hissed as it reached up with its hands and placed its palms against the glass. Caitlin could see its long, yellow fingernails. There was another sudden noise, and Caitlin turned and saw the face of another vampire at the side window. There was the sound of breaking glass, and she turned and in the other direction saw yet another face. This one smashed his head right to the glass, sneering at her.

Morgan said, trying to get his attention. He didn't hear her. His map was gone. He made his way back around to the front the desk , continuing to panic. His foot kicked Morgan's pants. As he did, a small blue glass vial rolled out from them. It caught his eye. He bent forward picking it up. He squinted at it as he held it up. There was some type of powder inside of it. He went to open it. "Gavin no!." Morgan yelled, reaching out to stop him.

"We need to act quickly. Let's gather a team and head to the mansion." As night fell, Marinetta, Harley, and a small group of their most trusted allies made their way to the mansion. The air was thick with tension as they approached, the faint glow of magical wards flickering around the building. They moved silently, their senses heightened as they prepared for whatever awaited them inside. Inside the mansion, Morgana stood at the center of a large, intricate pentagram, her hands raised as she chanted in an ancient tongue. The air crackled with dark energy, and the vampires watched in awe as the ritual neared its climax.

Reese pulled a slim glass vial from his pocket and smeared the reader with a clear gel. “Borrowed this from a friend in Munich,” he said. “Tricks the scanner into thinking it’s just been used.” The light turned green. The door slid open with a hiss. --- Inside was a chamber straight out of Mara’s nightmares. Rows of black server towers hummed in dim blue light. Screens suspended from the ceiling streamed lines of shifting code, the characters warping in ways that made her eyes ache if she stared too long. And at the center, on a pedestal of glass, sat another cube.

Sean slid open the cabin window, his voice sharp with annoyance. "Wendy's health matters more than anything. No one is more important than her. As for the one behind you, if she dies, then that's her fate. Some lives just don't matter." He snapped the window shut without another word. The doctor trembled with anger, but he had no choice. He maneuvered around the bodyguards, squeezing through a narrow gap. At last, we managed to pass beside the helicopter. As we moved past it, one of Sean's friends happened to open the window for some air. The moment he saw my pale, lifeless face, he recoiled in shock and fell back into his seat.

"Wolf!" The vampires came at her, but Jonathan appeared as if stepping from mist before Allena, sweeping his hand and throwing them back into a wall. The picture that had hung there along with the side table both split open at the impact and whatever glass decorations that had sat upon the table shattered as well. Another man that Allena had failed to notice sped towards the vampire's side, his face worried. Allena brow furrowed as she recognized the other man-but it couldn't be him . . .
