The giant grey wolf stared at Seraphina with cold, silver eyes. It was Aurora. She had fully shifted into her beast form, and her massive body was tense, ready to spring. A low, rumbling growl vibrated in the wolf’s throat, and thick, warm saliva dripped from its long, white fangs.

I didn't question my father's obsession with wolf artifacts and legends, I didn't question why she wore a protective necklace against something that only existed in my books. I didn't question how my father died, I didn't question anything. I just let life go with me, I let it heal from all the things that were left behind to move on. Soon we were ready, I left the house with the feeling that I should go back but still I went. The Hall was crowded, everyone surprised to finally see me out of my shell, out of the cave where I had been holed up since the day of the great pain. - I don't think I even know how many times that day I heard that phrase pounding in my mind.

He pulled himself up to standing, and even though there was a large patch of fur missing on his chest, and the burn was beginning to crust over, he snarled at me, as if to say he wasn’t giving up. Just then, the sound of footsteps in the woods on either side of the house caught my attention. I kept the new ball of fire in my hand and an eye on the lone attack wolf, but I could see more wolves arriving out of the woods. Four came from one direction, six from another. I had hope that it wouldn't just happen now. But like every other year, at this point I would wish that my name wasn't my name. I would wish that I wasn't Allison Bush, the last air of the Bush who actually is the only one that turns into a full wolf on a full moon. I was trying to run from that and some other things.. But then again, you can't run away from yourself!!

Then the golden wolf sauntered off to the beautiful brown wolf who stood amongst the waiting wolves. The brown wolf couldn’t stop her whimpering sounds. Troy was pretty sure his mother would have been in tears had she been in human form. Gloria gave her son a proper tongue-bath, whimpering the entire time. The golden wolf stood still as his mother worked on him, whimpering intermittently too. All the other wolves, including the alpha, stood quietly as Gloria got acquainted with her son’s wolf.

Some seemed to find it hard to adjust to the method, but still managed to follow through with my father's guidance. One time, I accompanied my father and our people to the Forest Wolf Tribe to check on the progress of their farming and animal domestication. The Alpha of their tribe was named Acwulf, a bluish-gray Wolf beastman with silver eyes. The body of a Wolf beastman was smaller than that of an average Lion beastman, but their muscles were firm, they were more agile, and their nose was more sensitive, making it easier to detect the exact location of their prey even if they were hidden.

I burst through the tree line into chaos. Six massive creatures prowled through Steele territory. They were not wolves. Not anymore. Cursed beasts twice the size of any natural wolf, with eyes that glowed different colours. Red. Green. Gold. Purple. Each one represented a different bloodline. A different ancient horror bound to flesh and rage. And they were slaughtering my wolves. Bodies littered the ground. Wolves I trained with. Ate with. Lived beside. Now reduced to torn flesh and spilt blood.

I struggled trying to calm my angry wolf still groaning in pain, my wolf was about taking control when I heard someone talk. "Keep calm, Storm," I heard Nova's voice calming me completely.

“Aria, don’t leave me.” My throat tightens. The sound comes from deeper in the fog, from the direction of the rabbit. “Come home, little wolf. I miss you so.” My hands shake. He is not here. My father is in the Jasper Pack. I blink hard, forcing the illusion away, but the voice keeps going. “You’ll die like your mother if you stay. She couldn’t resist the pull of the Game either.” Kael’s hand touches my shoulder, and it grounds me. The spell breaks. The forest exhales in frustration, and the whisper fades away. But the rabbit vanishes with it.

Damian's wolf was a massive, iron-gray beast with a thick, imposing build that could crush opponents with brute force. Rowan Seres Velden of the Stormrider Pack had a striking presence, with stormy blue eyes that seemed to constantly crackle with energy. His windswept blonde hair, slightly unkempt, gave him a wild appearance, while his calm demeanor contrasted the turbulent forces he commanded. The Stormrider Pack was known for their command over weather and storm elements, and Rowan's wolf, a silver-coated beast with glowing blue eyes, reflected the power of the skies-swift and unpredictable as lightning.
