As the witch’s limbs went limp, her bloodied fingers slipping from the rope, I released her legs and stumbled back, panting. Zevarion immediately lowered the rope again, his movements swift and precise. I fumbled with the knot, fingers trembling, and then began to climb.
My arms burned. Every pull upward felt heavier than the last. I was halfway through the window, my waist scraping the jagged stone, when chaos erupted below.
