"Talking to the witch when you should be taking what she knows." Everything happened too fast. Draeven launched himself at the witch, his corrupted claws extended. She threw up a shield of shimmering light, but he tore through it like paper. I heard her scream as his claws raked across her side, saw blood spray black against the snow. "No!" I didn't know why I shouted it. Didn't know why my body moved before my mind caught up. I crashed into Draeven, sending us both sprawling. My warriors stood frozen, confused, caught between orders and instinct.

Cinders float from the sky, drifting down in large, powdery pieces of hot ash. Smoke thickens the air, choking visibility, but I’m not human—and for once, I’m grateful for the sharpness of near‑immortal eyes. Through the haze, I spot Bethany, the witch Canum once ordered to shove Edge down my throat. She hurls a spell meant to obliterate one of Phantom’s guards, but it misfires, charring a tree into more ash that swirls around us like burning snow.

Five witches began to chant in unison and Rhazien immediately began to groan in pain as he slowly fell on his knees. A Witch pulled out a dagger from nowhere and she unsheathed it to reveal the sparking blue blade. She slowly walked towards Rhazien who was struggling on his knees to break free from the effect of the spell. She brought the dagger down to stab Rhazien. *** My eyes shot open immediately and I looked down to see a large cauldron filled with boiling liquid silver. I panicked and shouted till I realized I wasn't falling into it. That was when I felt the metallic sting on my neck and I saw that I was strung up with silver chains.

Mouths hanging open, I give them a few seconds to gather their wits before I launch myself into the air and fly after them. Before I reach them, I feel barriers of solid air go up in front of me. They must be hoping to stop me from being able to reach them. Tucking my wings in, I begin to freefall down onto the shield. Right before I reach it, I make the shield dissipate so that I hurtle through it and land on the ground directly in front of the lead witch.

Zander used all the strength in his body to get up and save her, extending his hands to only grab empty air. " Seraaaaaaaaaaa!" It was too late, his body dropped on the window sill as he looked down at her falling body. Her arms and legs open, falling under gravity. Her long hair flowing with the wind. But the impact never came. His heart leaps out of his chest when he saw the darkness enveloping her completely before her body touched the ground. It's like it enveloped her completely and the only thing hitting the floor was a puddle of dark slime. It slowly started eating itself and vanished in thin air.

“Because next time it happens, there will not be a circle or watchers or controlled ground. There will only be blood, so you will do it again.” Lucas growled, fists flexing. “If she falls, that’s on you.” The witch ignored him. “Stand, girl.” I forced myself up on shaking legs. My whole body screamed but I lifted my hands again. Sparks flickered weakly. This time, the sparks were small and faint but it was steady and controlled. My arms shook so badly I thought they’d snap but I held it. For a breath, then for two. Then finally, with one last gasp, I let them fade.

And before I am the Weeping Woman, crying. "I'm so sorry," she dropped to the floor and cried. "I just…I just wanted my Tomas back. I want Tomas back." Viola weeps. I sighed and looked at Zayn, who reached inside his cloak and handed me a chalk. I went to an empty wall and drew a rectangular door and characters representing runes. I placed my hand on the wall and closed my eyes as I spoke the ancient tongue of the witches before me. A warm, tingling feeling against my hand meant the magic was a success.

Her body moved so that it was standing upright and it was then that we all fell to our knees. A woman appeared out of thin air dressed in all white. Her long black hair flowing in a breeze that only she could feel.
