It was the one thing that I had of her. At least, I believed that it was hers. As far as I was concerned, she had no magic. She had no need for these recipe books. But I did not care. They served me well. And I was going to use them, hers or not hers. The potion shimmered as I stirred it, thick and red like wine mixed with blood. The scent rising from it was faint, flowery, innocent. In my opinion, completely stupid. The signature scent of the one woman I despised more than anyone else in this world.

I walk out of my last class to meet with the girl I tutor. She was like Mackenzie, only less nice and likes black much more. Her name is Sydney, the one who told me to say that word. Honestly, her grades are only low because she doesn't care about her grades. "Yo!" She calls from a table waving me over to her. I nod my head acknowledging her before going over and sitting down. I place my bag on the floor against the leg of the table, opening it to find our revision materials.

One stupid woman even said she would willingly give herself to him and make babies with him if he just gave her a glance. I also found out that he was the infamous Morgan Wright, the CEO of Wright Corporation and the heir to the Wright Empire. Before my uncle finished making his call, the whispers around me had already given me a vague impression of the handsome man, and I had also come to the conclusion; he was an arrogant jerk.

Harry's answer caught my attention. Harry talked about Sora's aura. He was the only one who could talk about it so openly without asking for anything in return. Harry was a hybrid, born with the power of a werewolf and druid mixed together in his blood. I turned around to look at him. “What do you mean? No one's aura can change. Didn't you say that when we were in the academy? You said it to her when she was convinced that she could change her aura by training hard.” I asked Harry, my tone was laced with my anger.

Meeting Sigrid’s eyes, he saw that she was also making the connection.

He was on his phone, typing away, and hadn’t noticed us. "Excuse me, is this place open?" Harry stepped forward to ask. The kid looked up, furrowed his eyebrows, and then widened his eyes like he recognized him. "Harry Hopkins?" the boy asked. Harry looked over at me. Ever since the end of his career, his fame had died down and he wasn’t used to being recognized in public. "Yeah, that’s me." Harry rubbed the back of his neck. "I’m a swimmer," the kid pointed at himself. "I got into California University on a sports scholarship because I’m a swimmer. I plan to go into the Olympics. You’re my hero."

I search the crowd of people with my eyes for Harry and after a few minutes, I spot him. He's wearing a navy suit, his brown hair gelled back away from his face, a lollipop in his mouth and holding a placard with Miguel's name on it. "Harry" I yell, pasting a smile on my face and wave my hands and when he sees me, he jogs over to where I'm standing with a surprised smile. "You're Harry Maguire." "And you're definitely not Oscar, except your parents dig that sort of name for a girl?" I laugh and shake my head

Lips curled in a half-smile that promised secrets and ruin in equal measure. The academy uniform looked wrong on him,as if the fabric strained under something too powerful to contain. “Aria,” he said. His voice. God!!! his voice. Smooth. Rich. Familiar. Like fire wrapped in silk. I didn’t answer. Couldn’t. Because I knew. This wasn’t a new student. This wasn't a coincidence. This was him. Harry. Reborn. Renamed. Returned. “I’ve heard so much about you,” he said, pulling out the chair across me. Sat without invitation. “The girl who survived the Hollow Path. Who broke Morwen’s staff with a gesture. Harry and Leo toured Disneyland like age mates, screaming and jumping whenever they saw the Disney characters in real life. Leo's favorite was the beast, and he kept trying to engage in a fight with him. “Come on boy, don't be a modern day Gaston, relax and you'll get Belle”, Harry said to the little man. Harry's favorite character was Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty. She was all over the place, throwing belittling insults at everyone that she could and surging laughter from the crowd.
