I stood until my legs ached and the chill of the air seeped into my bones. If my mom had sacrificed everything for me, then whatever she had left behind mattered. They were clues to what I needed to know. We drove home quietly. My nose started bleeding as we approached the house. Warm. Sudden. I pressed my fingers to it, watching red stain my skin. The drug shot up my nose roughly but I didn't care, I inhaled three more times before an indescribable sharp pain hit me in the front of my head. I screamed, and dropped the drugs from my hand and I gripped my nose, trying to soothe the pain. I tried snorting it out because I knew I'd taken in too much but when I did I felt a warm substance on my hand. I looked down at my hands and saw blood, lots of it.

Tessa was surprised to see Hardin's nose was bleeding. "Honey, I'm fine," Hardin said, catching Tessa's hand that was trying to touch his face. "Fine, how! You've got a nosebleed, Hardin." Tessa is still trying to stay calm because she's a doctor. Tessa tried to handle this with the tools she had. "Shut up... Don't talk too much, calm down." Tessa blocks Hardin's nosebleed with the tissue in her hand and applies slight pressure to both nostrils for a few minutes.
