I fell quiet. “Do you know how much pain I’ve been through all these years? Do you know how much it hurts to live a life without that person? Do you know what it does to your heart? It literally shatters it and even till this minute, I can still feel the hurt in here,” She said, patting her chest. I lowered my gaze to the black tar of the road and watched fallen leaves being blown by the evening breeze sweep past my boots. “I have also been hurt. Since I was a kid, I have been broken.”

Heartbreak usually comes in different ways. Sometimes, it’s you holding your heart out as it is gushing out with hot tears that is as thick as blood. Sometimes, it is you hurting inside without having enough words to speak outside. All just because everything hurts inside. It was not merry. It was nothing too far, too close. But I just wanted to get away. I was not heartbroken. At least not yet, but I could not say the same for the man I was staring at. The same man I had been staring at for two minutes, which had felt like the first two hours of my first life.

Heartbreak. Cerise didn't realize that's what she's feeling at this moment. Tears stream down her face. Her stomach in twists, head buzzing and ears ringing.
