he said. I tensed. My mom never told me she’d had a true mate. All this time, she’d been away from him, and she’d quit shifting. Since my dad wasn’t dead, she’d have felt that bond all these years. What had that done to her? I was a mess simply being apart from my true mate and we had yet to complete the mating bond. She’d completed the bond, then had to flee. Every day, my very existence had been a reminder of the love she’d lost. “My mom is broken after everything she’s been through.” My throat was tight, and I had to stop speaking for fear of breaking down in front of him. He might be my father, but he was still a stranger.

Shattered Mate Bond: Book 2 Broken and Listening Sera pov The voices filtered through the haze of medication like radio stations cutting in and out. Male. Deep. Familiar in a way that made my chest ache even through the fog of painkillers. Aiden. My mate. The one who didn't want me.

He would have managed, of course, because she was a friend, but it would have been exhausting. “Okay, we’ve talked about my broken fingers now,” he said and took a quick swig from his beer. “What about your broken heart? Or did you break his?” She blinked at the unusual introduction but seemed okay with it. “No…” she slowly said while stirring around in her soup. “He broke mine.” She ate a spoonful, before she continued. ”It’s a bit complicated. Because actually–” Suddenly her voice failed her and she turned away, blinking frantically to chase away tears.

Damn the mate bond. “Aren’t you going to ask?” I waited for clarification. “Aren’t you going to ask why I lied to you?” “It doesn’t matter anymore.” “It does matter, you’re my freaking mate!” Then he sighed. “Do something, anything! Hit me, scream at me. Don’t just stand like that looking…” his voice cracked, “Looking broken because that makes my heart ache even more.”

“I don’t plan on sticking around once my revenge is complete. I’ll be seeing my mate again.” Well I didn’t see that one coming. It’s not like he was your mate Breanna.” “He was my second chance mate! You don’t get a third.”

The drive to the restaurant was quiet, mostly because I was focusing on the road while driving while she was finishing up the movie on my phone. "I can't believe Tracey still died. I thought since she found her true love, she was bound to overcome cancer and live happily ever after with him." Lizzy snorted while I proceeded to park at the restaurant. "Seriously? Tracey died?" "Yeah..." She handed me back my phone. "I guess true love wasn't that powerful enough. It never is. Anything can break it." I knew from that moment that she wasn't talking about Tracey and her lover in the movie but about Alex and her failed plan and when she said 'Anything can break it', she meant SHE could break his b

All her belongings were gone as if she had never existed. "No…" Out of nowhere, Kaden felt a pain shoot up from the depths of his soul. His wolf roared and thrashed in an attempt to break free from his body. It was clear evidence that the mate bond had been broken by force. "Argh!" Kaden howled in devastation, the sound waves shattering the bedroom windows. It dawned on him that Seraphina was not joking. She had left him, never to be found again. Falling on all fours, Kaden struggled to crawl to the dressing table. There, a black obsidian jewelry box remained. It was the gift Seraphina left for him a week ago.

His Gamma pressure rolled over me, thick with condescension. "What is this drama for now?" I met his gaze, unflinching. "Drama?" my voice was raspy. "I loved you with three years of unwavering loyalty, and in return, you treated me like trash. You abandoned your mate to protect another woman, you humiliated me in front of this entire pack, and you whispered to the Council about giving my place away. And you call that drama?"

I explained to her “ The mate mind link, how does it work?” She asked with curiosity. “ A mate link can be initiated when the female werewolf is marked by her mate.
