His canines enlarged and his eyes turned red. The shadows gathered at his feet and started to whisper and spread as they answered his command. The shadows feed on blood like Kieran does and right now their sacrifice were the rogues. They got thicker and thicker as they moved. The rogues and warriors could feel the change in the atmosphere but could not see the shadows. When they reached the rogues, they started sucking them dry fast then move to the next. One after the other the rogues fell on the ground sucked dry.

He bled from his side where one claw had cut through. Still, he didn't falter. Not once. Every time I weakened, his fire shielded me. Every time his storms buckled, my ember cut through for him. Until only one shadow remained. It towered over the clearing, larger than the rest, its shape shifting between wolf and human and something monstrous in between. It was followed by another, closer, and then the tree line erupted in chaos. The Shadowborn had come. They poured from the forest like living nightmares wolves that looked half-rotten, their eyes black and their mouths dripping with dark ichor. Their bodies moved wrong, their limbs bending at impossible angles. The stench of decay rolled with them, making the Ironfang warriors gag as they rushed to arm themselves.

The men inside hanged around on tattered furniture or clustered around makeshift tables, their eyes immediately shifting towards us with a mix of curiosity and respect. Levi, the boss of this dark haven, stood apart from the rest. His bearded face was a canvas of scars and shadows, his eyes gleaming with a cold, calculating intelligence that had earned him his place at the top.

"A distraction. The Shadow's buying time for something bigger." Before Finn could respond, the ground shook violently. From the shadows emerged a swarm of creatures, their forms more grotesque and refined than any the team had faced before.
