Holiday Hockey Tale: The Icebreaker's Impasse Novels & Stories

But Elena wasn't here. "You good, Cap?" I looked up. Tyler, our rookie winger, was staring at me. He looked exhausted. His shoulder was taped up clumsily, limiting his range of motion. "I'm fine," I lied. "Focus on the game. We need this win." We didn't win. We got slaughtered. 5-1 against the Devils. I missed three shots on goal because I couldn't pivot fast enough. Tyler dislocated his shoulder again in the second period and had to be carried off the ice screaming.

I asked, feeling confused as no one had informed me about any event. "Frostwolves are Mystic Academys' hockey team. The event you obviously don't know about is called the icebreaker. It's not the biggest event in Mystic Academy, but it's still memorable as it opens the session. How do you not know about this?" Riley rushed out in a breath. "Wow, slow down," I mumbled. "So, today, there's going to be an event where the hockey team will play. How does it affect school activities?" "It's the biggest opening event of the session. What do you mean? How does it affect school activity? It should because no one should miss this for anything in the world!" she exclaimed.

Lucian POV The thick concrete walls of this sports hotel felt like a trap. After the total mess at the rink, security guards rushed our team out the back door. The media was already going wild. Down in the lobby, the television screens showed the same loop over and over: Orion’s bare fists smashing into Fenrir's face. News anchors called it the most vicious fight in hockey history. The league suspended Orion on the spot, and they ordered our whole team to stay inside the building until the board made a final choice.

I bet you look good in it, too. The bass from the party downstairs thumps through the mattress, a slow, steady beat that matches the pulse in my cock. I lie there, alone in the dark, waiting for the next buzz and it comes too quickly. Barnabythebear: Tomorrow at the rink by 8 PM. Come if you want *wink emoji*

He must have said or done something when he spoke with Father earlier. “You are not ready to…” He repeats the same thing he has been saying all year. Fuck this old lying bastard! “How would you know if you never give me a chance to prove myself?” I roar but he doesn't seem fazed. As much as I love Hockey, it isn't something I intend to do in more years to come. Most days my bones hurt like they might give up on me ahd I might end up needing help to walk. All I want from him is one or two projects to build my portfolio so it is easier for me to navigate the business world when I retire next year.

They had just recruited a few new, young hotshot Canadians onto their team. The New York Times and the Huffington Post had done articles about how the New York Rangers were the favorites to win and the newbies to the hockey circuit, the Arctic Avalanches, were sure to lose. Noah, Nina, Nathan, Arthur, Mia, and I held our breath as, with only four seconds to go, Quinton and Pierre hit the puck back and forth as they sped down the ice so fast, they seemed to defy physics. The goalie for the New York team, with a stance like an angry gorilla and expression to rival Jason from the Friday the 13th horror movies, had his stick at the ready. He was not going to let them score in the final moments.

She was anticipating something she couldn’t see yet, and she hated that feeling. It happened fast during the mid-second period. A pass went wide, a player overcorrected, another came in too hard. The hit wasn’t clean, and she saw it before it landed. “Wait—” Too late. The impact cracked through the rink, loudly. The player went down hard in the wrong way. She was already moving before the whistle finished blowing. “Stay back,” Kai said automatically. “I’m doing my job,” she shot back, already stepping onto the ice.

But Hockey is a beast of a game, and I f*ckin love it. But after my marriage, I stopped watching and even checking live scores. I stopped everything that would remind me of Cicero, deleting him everywhere around me. … We were already seated in a row right across the Islanders' bench before the game started. Papa is seated comfortably with Lugo, Cicero's best friend. They are having a deep conversation that they didn't want me to listen to. So, I focus my attention on the ice, biting down on my lips. Papa is wearing a jersey with Cicero's name and even offered me one before we left the house, but I turned him down.
