I need some people to talk to or else I’m gonna go crazy at this point. The hallways were broad, but they appeared to be dark since the curtains were always closed. They seldom open the curtains; they can always use the sun instead of lamps but who am I to suggest? I’m just a poor vampire who happens to be homeless if I ever get kicked out here!

“We’re not here to hurt you.” I was met with silence. “Please come out,” I said gently, certain that it was a child hiding under the bed. Several seconds passed before a tiny figure slowly crawled out. A girl. She couldn’t have been older than fourteen. Her dark hair looked tangled badly around her face. Bruises covered one side of her neck and arms. Her clothes were oversized and dirty like she had been living outside for days. But it was her eyes that struck me the hardest. She was terrified.

She smirks out, watching me carefully, searching around me. “No. How old are you?” “14..you?” “19.” She was 14 years old…what has happened to her to be living homeless in an alleyway at 14 with no family to protect her. “I don’t like going there…” Her head sinks, her eyes drawing away from my gaze. Yes, for her to chose to live overnight in an alleyway, alone…it must be bad. “Okay…would you point me in the right direction at least?” I press, not preparing to give in.

She didn't know how long they walked and her body began to feel the effect of 'swimming' at night, without rinsing or changing clothes. She chuckled. She was not on survival program yet she need to strenght her mind. She hasn't felt this feeling for a long time. Roaming on the street without shelter. No one was willing to offer a help even just for a hot drink to wanderer child. Sometimes if In Ha found a shelter, she was evicted by the owner and threatened by being called by the police. She didn't want to go back to the orphanage or homeless shelter where the adults were.

And had her back pressed to the wall behind her, with her flip-flops clad feet, crossed together. She was quite pretty with her glasses on. But without glasses she on, Bolu could finally see her whole face. Which was extremely beautiful. Her eyes were so round and big. She had no make up on, but she looked like a goddess. And Bolu cursed myself for putting on so much make up. "Who is she?" Bolu finally asked, turning her attention back Alex. "A homeless girl who I found on the streets." He replied averting his eyes to her and Bolu saw her raise a brow at him, with her lips curving into a smirk. Bolu returned my eyes to Alex.

"Wow..that's so far away.." She chuckles. "I've been here for almost months. I don't know what month is this or what year we're in right now." "How did you get here?" "I was once a daughter from a very wealthy family. But then one day, my family got attack by the robbers, they killed my family and sold me to these thugs." Athena dumbfounded a moment. "So..your family.." Inhale, the girl nodded. "Yes, they already dead. No one will find me. My country is so big and had a lot of kidnapping issues like this, so my existence is just like a grain of sand under the big ocean."

I cried out as one of the scavengers made to open it. They all looked hungry and dirty, definitely street kids, it was now it actually dawned on me where I was. THE NARROWS... I've heard a lot about this place on the news, it's like a refugee camp for homeless kids or orphans, because the social services in this town couldn't care less about the well fare of homeless kids. But I also heard one time that their territory had some degree of protection, but the juveniles usually get arrested a lot. "Hey have you guys seen this?, I took it off an old man's cart down the road." Some boy in a torn hoodie came around the corner with a newspaper in his hand.

The girl said, "How could that be? You're a little dumb, mister. Think about it. If it were a scam, you wouldn't be able to escape once you stepped into my house, right? Don't worry. It's completely safe here." Joseph asked, "How safe? Will the police come knocking?" The girl shook her head. "There's no chance of that happening! If you're caught, I'll pay you back double. I'll keep watch outside for you. If anything happens, I'll warn you." Joseph had already looked over the entire apartment. It was simple and modest. The girl was a student at a nearby school. She was only in fourth grade and seemed to be a good student. But Joseph couldn't bring himself to agree with how they did things.

"Two thousand pounds. By Friday. Or he calls the police." Two thousand pounds. I have maybe three hundred in our emergency fund. This is what happens when you run charity operations with no budget. "Tell him I'll meet him tomorrow. Negotiate payment plan." I look at the newly turned wolf. A girl, maybe nineteen, attacked three days ago. "You'll be okay. The burn will heal in a week. Keep the bandage clean." The girl nods. She's terrified. They all are at first. Turned into monsters, abandoned by families, ending up in the Rookeries because there's nowhere else.

One second I was staring at my phone, the words “She signed herself out” burning into my skull, and the next I was already halfway out the door, jacket thrown over my shoulder, the faint burn of whiskey still lingering in my throat. A homeless nineteen year old pregnant girl with a broken leg all alone in the streets alone at night. I slammed the penthouse door behind me harder than necessary and strode toward the elevator, my jaw clenched so tightly it hurt.
