he snarled, lifting me by my shirt as his fangs sank deep into my chest.
I hit the ground hard, gasping and crying.
When I lifted my head, he had Ronan. My brother's tear-streaked face reached for me, his cries piercing through the haze.
"Silas!”
"Run, little boy,” the man whispered, his voice like acid in my ear. "Run. Because when I find you again, we hunt."
And then he was gone, dragging Ronan with him.
