"Right now, in this room, you are simply here. Without any preparation for what comes next." She was quiet for a moment, looking at the ceiling, letting that sit in her properly. "What else?" she said. "Someone who laughs in her sleep," I said. "Not often. Occasionally. Tonight I heard it again." "I laugh in my sleep?" she said. "Yes," I said. "Three times this month alone. The small sound. Very specific and entirely real." "What else?" she said.

“Uptight? Coming from the woman who moans my name in her sleep and probably has wet dreams about me?” My eyes flew wide. A bolt of pure, mortified electricity shot through me. He was right.
