Ralph walked onto the dance floor with a baseball bat in his hands and shook his head as he looked at me. “Sorry, Kai, you’re out,” he said. It wasn’t the first time I’d been asked to leave. “Call me with the damage,” I said, and walked to where Jace and Justin stood. I took Adelie’s hand, and she followed me to the bar where I grabbed my jacket. “Oh, you know I will!” Ralph said loudly, with a smile. I walked outside with Adelie’s hand still clasped in mine. I unlocked the Jeep and opened the door for her. She climbed inside and opened her mouth to say something but Paul walked outside, too, and I turned to look at him.

“Where are you, Logan? The party’s just getting started.” Dammit! “I just went out for some fresh air. You'll see me there soon.” I hum and after a few more words. I hang up the call, pocketing my phone. Rain is now back in the water, swimming this time. I just want to join her in the stream, kissing and holding her while we bask underwater. But I can’t. I know better than indulging myself with Rain. At that, I veer on heels and walk back to the party.

“I'll make this as brief as I can. This way, you may return to whatever it is you were doing before you were called.” I looked around, and caught sight of her. Now I pointed. “The woman—Rain. We all know what has happened to her recently. She got in an accident. I might as well be the cause. She's healing too, as we all can see.” A proud smile came on my countenance. I looked at Rain who smiled as well, then I looked at the other members. Some had smiles on their faces, some didn't. “Rain will no longer work as a maid in this Pack.”

Great, I didn't expect anything less. I waited at that spot for a minute, thinking they would finally remember me and come get me. But they didn't. I also didn't make any attempt to move either. I stared at the already destroyed decorations and I gave an inward smile. There would be no party again. It seems the heavens finally understand my distress and they had to send down rain to wash away all of my pains and then make my enemies bitter. It was the truth; my immune system was a joke during the rainy season, and I caught a fever if I looked at a puddle wrong. Still, I couldn't bring myself to ruin her moment just yet. I pulled out my phone and discreetly snapped a few pictures of her silhouette dancing against the backdrop of the city lights.
