Stoic was confused as he keeps on asking me what’s wrong when I pointed where we are standing at. “L-look…” All of them took a step back to see clearly what I am talking about. Everyone gasped in shock. I could feel some chills running down in my spine as I swallowed the lump in my throat. We’re standing on a giant foot print.

“I don’t know if I am at this point?” He stormed over to me, anger etched on his face. “I won’t hear you speak like that. Now. Stand your ground. Like this.” He grabbed my shoulders and put me at an angle, then kicked my feet wider apart. “You have to have balance. Now let’s try this again.” He went back to his spot and turned towards me. I raised my hands as if I knew what I was doing. Bracing myself for the subsequent impact to throw me on my ass. I pressed my feet into the ground, willing to feel the Earth as if it were part of me.

Even the fire is gone at this point, and I actually miss its presence. I let my body drop, my ass hitting, I don’t know what. I may be on the ground, but there’s no real ground. I mean, there’s nothing above or below and nothing on the sides. I pull my knees up and rest my arms on them. I look around, willing anything to appear.

Immediately after I had done with the signs the brightness of light began to hover around me and I realized that I was not on the ground but I was hanging in the mid-air. Daddy how do I land on the ground after the chanting. Look at me and what I am about to do.

Not like this. I force myself to stand, my body screaming in protest, the world around me tilting dangerously. Every muscle, every bone feels like it’s on fire, but I can’t stop. I have to keep moving. My knees buckle slightly as I push upward, the uneven ground beneath me shifting, making me stagger. A sharp, jagged rock digs into my palm as I steady myself, the sting grounding me, reminding me that I’m still alive—for now.

The ground didn't seem too far but it scared me still. “Oh, God. I hope I don't nastily land on the ground.” I breathed and was hesitant until I pictured how furious my parents would be at me right now. The entire universe had chosen to work against me, it seemed. Another tear escaped my eyes as I took a few steps back, ready to jump. I seized my breath and muttered “So help me God,” before jogging to the window and… Thud! I landed on the floor, my weight heavily pressed on my left hand.

I whispered shakily. I pushed both hands into the sand… and stood up. My legs straightened under me. My feet pressed firmly into the ground, and I didn’t fall. “Oh my God…” I breathed out, staring down at my legs like they belonged to someone else. “I’m standing.” I took a step, then another, and my legs held me. I hadn’t taken a single step in years. I laughed hard. “I’m standing,” I whispered again. “I’m actually… standing.”

Stories rewritten. And for the first time in a long time, I wasn’t shrinking to survive it. I was standing still. Letting the ground shake.

The light now made a trail too, it was faint but I can still see. I didn't think twice. I followed, running, not caring that the veiny roots that poked out of the soil whipped my skin brutally as I pass through. It's mom. I know it's her. I can feel her. I can feel my own mother. She's here. She's here! "Mom!" I let out a choked cry, leaping over a tree trunk and landing in mud. Mud? I stopped. The soil is wet here. How comes? " You're standing on lunar ground."

Steph’s voice seemed worried. - Jess, are you ok? - I am fine. I managed to sit on a bench. Thank God the company is near.
