The ground beneath everything else, solid and permanent and not going anywhere regardless of what moved through it. I was standing on the floor. Even sitting on the ground, even exhausted, even with twenty years of power moving through me in ways I hadn’t begun to map, I was standing on the floor, and it was holding. I let my eyes close. Just for a moment. Just to be in the dark behind my eyes with the stone warm at my back and the sound of his breathing beside me and the land breathing beneath me and the complete Moonseal sigil on my arm burning its quiet gold.

I make sure to plant my feet firmly on the ground with each step. As I reach the middle of the grid, I feel my ankle wobble and quickly steady myself by placing my other foot next to the wobbling ankle. This forces me to come to a complete stand still in the middle of the grid. I take a deep breath and prepare myself to continue walking, making sure that I have my balance now.

August's POV We were welcomed with a high salute from the guards. Until now I still can't move on with this place. It just feels too unreal. But no matter how many times I say no way in my mind, this place freaking exists and I am even standing on it right now. We are no longer in the cloud part but we are on the ground. My life is no longer in danger.

It would be better for me to do that than for me to place my hand on someone not real, then I would fall. My plan would have held some merit if pain did not shoot up my arm the moment I placed weight on it. “Ouch.” I hissed in pain as I quickly removed my hand from the ground.

Something was out there and I didn’t want to find out what it was. I tapped my feet on the ground a little bit, making sure that I had enough space all around me to bend over and that I wouldn’t topple over into a gorge. When I lowered myself enough so that the light from the pendent could reach the ground, I saw that not only was the ground made of black rock, the surface of the rock was made of jagged edged that looked sharp enough to cut through skin.

We’re close. --- The ground is damp underfoot as I carefully move into position, my boots making barely a sound against the earth. My eyes scan the cabin, noting every detail as the plan takes shape. The house stands silent, an eerie calm settling over it, but my instincts scream that it’s far from empty.

Feeling the energy of the earth grounding me and releasing the negative energy within me. “I’m feeling great, now that madam has stopped growing. We just need to wait for her now to make her grand entrance into the world.” She says and I bite my apple. “Yeah, not looking forward to that. But it will be worth it to have her in my arms.” I continue walking. I come to the hill that overlooks the training field, and it looks like we are training an army. Moving lower, I sit down and cross my legs, looking out over everyone. I finish my apple and place it at my side and close my eyes.

They were in my bones. Then light. Blinding. Cold. Absolute. I dropped to my knees with a ragged gasp, the ground below me soft with moss that pulsed like a living thing. My fingers dug into it. I needed to ground myself. I needed something real. Eamon stood above me, hand extended, but I couldn’t take it. I felt like if I moved, I’d fall apart. Mark’s shadow passed over me. I expected him to say something, maybe even touch me. But he didn’t. He just stood there, watching, silent.

Kayla Pov I'm standing in a field of grass. The grass is so stalled, it tickles my leg as I walk by. The grass seems to stretch out for miles. The sky is clear and beautiful. It looks like an ordinary beautiful day minus the 5 suns that are in the sky. I look down. I'm wearing a red gown, but my feet are barefoot. The ground is hot, yet it feels like home. The wind is blowing beautifully, and I hear someone yell behind me.
