DAISY POV Blood dripped from my face onto the cold concrete floor. Drop… after drop… after drop. Warm and sticky, it slid down my cheek, tracing a slow path along my jaw before soaking into the collar of my shirt. The metallic scent filled my nose, thick and nauseating. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking. I stared at the spreading red spots, my vision blurring with tears. I slowly lifted my eyes and looked at Diesel. There was pure shock written across his face. His storm-gray eyes were wide, locked on the blood covering me. For a terrifying second, the whole room seemed to freeze. Then he muttered, his voice rough and low, almost broken:

Silver Title: The Bleeding The floor was cold against my back. I could feel it through my jacket, through my jeans, through every layer of clothing that was supposed to protect me from the world. But nothing could protect me from this. Nothing could protect me from the burning pain in my side, spreading like wildfire through my veins. I was bleeding. I knew it before I even looked down. I could feel it. The warmth soaking through my clothes. The wetness spreads across my skin. The way my body was slowly, steadily, giving up.

I stared wide-eyed as it took hold of my arm, squeezing tightly until I could feel the coldness of its fingers piercing my bones. "YOUR BLOOD IS MINE!" it roared. "I WILL TAKE EVERY OUNCE OF YOUR LIFE! YOU ARE WEAK AND PATHETIC! YOU ARE MY KEY TO THEM! ONCE I HAVE YOU, THEY WILL ALL FALL. I WILL END THEM ALL!" It's deep voice raved, pricking at every cell of my body, turning it into stone so I could not escape. I could not fight back.... it had me.... it had me choking on all of my fear.

CHAPTER ONE: MEETING MR DASHIELL My eyes flickered open like the blurry Christmas lights at the far end of a NewYork street. I tried to move but my head felt like it had been nailed to the hard, black tiles, and I could only manage to lift a finger or two. My mouth quivered as I felt liquid surrounding my cold body, I began to wonder whether I had taken a piss on the floor while unconcious. Using the strength I had left, I raised my fingers up to meet my eyes. My vision was blurry but I could still decipher that the liquid on the floor wasn't piss but in fact blood.

I will not let this panic attack get the best of me, I think with a more determined resolve. As I open my eyes, my blood runs cold as my heart skips a beat. Detective Clements and Chief Harding are blocking the front entrance, one draped over the other on the hard, cold floor, unmoving as a pool of blood spreads rapidly around them, inching closer by the second. I step back and freeze, paralyzed as my back brushes against something that I know shouldn’t be there.

A gun goes off when he gets close to me. His head falls on my lap. A bullet through his head. Cold blood oozes from his head onto me. Tears stream down my cheeks. Blood pools at my feet. I’m immobilized. My brain freezes, and darkness welcomes me, and for the first time...I don’t fight it.

She gasped, her fingers reaching weakly toward her head, but they came away slick with something warm. Blood. It poured down her face, mingling with the rain in dark, crimson streams. It pooled around her, staining the pavement in thick rivulets. Her vision swam, the world around her dissolving into shadows and blurs. She tried to focus, tried to move, but her limbs felt heavy, unresponsive. The cold seeped into her bones, her body trembling against the rain-soaked ground. She blinked, her breaths shallow and uneven, her chest aching with every labored inhale. The warmth of her blood spread, a sick reminder of how fragile life could be.

I was about to commit a heavy crime; I was about to give her my blood. She was already unconscious when I brushed her full, pink lips with my thumb, sliding them open before feeding her a few drops of blood. I waited until I heard her heart beating steadily. I exhaled a breath, which I didn't know I was holding, and then brushed her cheek. Her skin was cold, even colder than mine. Before I realized what I was doing, I shrugged off my coat and covered her. That was all I could do for her. I left her there, hoping that she would survive…
