I'm met with emptiness even though my eyes stray to the darkness in the corner of the room where the moonlight streaks fail to reach. I don't see him, however, something says he is in there, in the shadows watching me. I mean, that's the only time apex predators are out for the kill; in the dark. “Theodore!” I yell towards the door with a frantic voice. It's not helping matters that my ankle is cuffed against my wish. Oh, God! “Theodore isn't here to save you. You are with me now.” The voice is deeper, darker, promising dangers more than his words speak.

He observed her, his gaze filled with interest as her human scent filled his nose, she smelled like something sweet, something he was ready to possess, her soft feature made her look innocent but she had a different kind of fire in her, his eyes trailed down to the curve of her body, how he wanted to trace it. Darkness ignored his thoughts, tilted his head back, his gaze filled with interest, like a curious predator. “Why would I do that?” Vanilla struggled to keep standing, anyone in her position would, the man's gaze held no hate nor kindness, just endless depth, depth filled with secrets she might never live to know. “Because I know you are not human.” Silence. Darkness's lip curled up. “

"Only one way to prove that." "Careful, wife." I warned, my voice low and teasing. "I always rise to a challenge." She laughed softly, her gaze falling to the book she’d closed. "Do you know what this book’s about?" I glanced at the title again, pretending to think. "A family, right? Something about poverty and resilience?" She nodded, seeming a bit surprised though she had found the book in the beach house, probably assuming I've never read it. "It’s about overcoming tough beginnings and finding beauty in broken places. It’s sad but also hopeful." Her voice softened and she looked thoughtful.

Lucian whispered, trailing his finger over her face. Finally, Lucian left the room. The book sat on the desk, its dark cover gleaming ominously. He could feel its pull, the promise of power and throne. But one thing rang in his mind, he had to find her, and for the first time, Lucian felt a glimmer of light. But the battle was far from over. The shadows within him stirred, restless and insistent, opposing him from making a stupid step again.

HIS DARKEST SHADE BOOK-THREE ~Prologue~ “Even if you end up hating me for it.” His tone was vicious. “I might scare you,” he continued, his gaze roaming over her trembling form, “but they are far worse—formidable, vicious… and willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want.” He gestured toward her. “Including you.” “Never.” She shook her head, her voice trembling but firm. “I’m not scared of your words. You’re just trying to scare me so I’ll listen to you!”

One could tell it was dangerous. Suddenly two shadows emerged from the dark five steps from where she stood. She step back watching the two shadows cautiously. "No!" One of the shadows cried. Its voice covered with fear. The other shadow took out something that looks like a gun and pointed it at the other one. "This is my parting gift for you." The shadow whispered before pulling the trigger. A loud bang echoed in the whole place, taking away the stillness of the night.

I will never know if he abandoned us or my mother abandoned him. And... I will never get a chance to see that beautiful darkness in his eyes again. In that moment, I suddenly felt a strange thing all over my body. I could feel the heat inside, it felt as though I was burning. It felt strange yet somehow very familiar. Warmth from that burning feeling. Warmth from fire. Then I opened my eyes. My oppressor was couple of meters away, wild and ready to attack. But what surprised me was the reflection I saw in the werewolf's eyes.

This took a lot of weight off not only my back, but also the entire wizards and sorceress community. And you, dear reader, I hope that with this story, you will look a little more favorably on this darker part of our supernatural world. Or at least in most stories, each of them is considered rather evil creatures, children of Darkness. But there are stories where even messengers of Light, beings who should deal better with temptation than we, weak humans, sometimes succumb to the power of the Darkness. There are also times when the children of the Darkness discover such feelings as love, which in turn draws them to the Light. Many times the being from Light connects with the one from Darkness, creating a beautiful, but always very sad and desperate love story - because in most cases neither Light nor Darkness want their representatives to mix with each other.
