They pelted me with their commands until the act of making a decision felt even more horrifying than being devoured by a demon. For once in my life, I did none of those things. I smiled. He tilted his head slightly. “What are you doing with your face?” My mouth opened. “What?” “That.” His voice sharpened. “You dare try to seduce me?” Despite the fear twisting in my gut, I almost laughed. “I’m not trying to seduce you. I’m smiling.” If it were possible, he looked even more perplexed than before. “Why?”
