"He started tearing at my clothes, using a silver-coated knife to cut the fabric while I struggled to keep his hands off me." My free hand moved unconsciously to brush the hair away from my neck, revealing the silvered scar that ran from just below my ear down toward my collarbone. "When I fought back, the knife sliced my neck. That's why the scar never fully healed, silver damage doesn't heal like normal wounds for us." Carson's eyes fixed on the mark, his jaw clenching so tight I could see the muscle jumping beneath his skin.

“Relax. She’s not worth the energy. I’m just happy you’re back, Mira.” Mira blinked, her expression softening for the first time. “You missed me?” “Like hell I did,” Scarlet said sarcastically, but her tone cracked. “The room was too damn quiet without you.” Mira chuckled ... that wicked, carefree sound Scarlet had missed so much. But then something strange happened. The bruises that painted Mira’s skin ... the ones that looked deep, fresh, painful ... began to fade. One by one, the angry welts melted away, leaving her skin smooth and flawless.

A squeak echoes through the silence, and as arms wrap around me, I realize the sound came from me. “I’ve got you,” Lucas says, pulling me to his chest. “No, your injuries—” “Are fine,” he interrupts. He reaches up, grabs the back of his collar, and tugs his ruined shirt over his head. “See?” I don’t want to look at the faint pink scars slice across his torso, a stark contrast to his regularly tanned skin. They’ve healed mostly, but there will always be marks to remind me that he nearly died today. Reaching for my hand, Lucas takes my hand in his and carefully runs my fingers over the marks.

" Jace asks calmly as he grabs Scar man's hand and with a swift upward movement , dislocates the wrist joint and rips off his hand a second later .

There were burns, bullet scars, more knife and claw wounds, and, amid it all, the scar from her surgery. Madison turned and he got a clear view of her back which had the addition of some sort of scarring that looked like a dotted line. Her neck had a stab mark which dragged to the middle of her back. “I’m The Phantom. You can’t do my job without getting hurt. If I thought I left evidence behind, I would burn the place. It took a while before I was good enough to not have to worry. I heal like a demon, but I scar like a human.” She pulled her glamour back on. “I’m able to make myself pretty, so I do. Ready to eat, or did that ruin your appetite?”

Mia subconsciously reaches for her left arm. The dark expression on his face disappears as he lets out a sigh. “Come here.” Roman already has a first aid kit ready by his side. He rolls her long-sleeves upward revealing violet lines of healed scars all over. Bright red lines stand out among them and Roman puts a band-aid over it. “Not something I can’t handle,” she says as his eyebrow furrows at her scars. He doesn’t let go of her arm and traces one long scar. Mia shivers.

It was already really bloated and dark. -What eyes do you mean?- He pressed slowly. The answer was slow in coming but when it did the two men frowned. -The same ones that the person who did this to me had,- she pointed out her scars. Both the expression of one and the other was indecipherable. Vladek nodded at Izen and he responded in kind. The older one walked over to Jade and grabbed her arm before she fell over once he let go of Izen and tried to step back to put some distance.

She wasn’t sure if she should be happy at his concern or if she should feel embarrassed that he called her reckless. “Sir, please tell me it is a magic wand, and it will make her less irritating.” Ruza preened. Mr. Dixon grasped Vivian's hand and turned it slightly to reveal a gash near her elbow. Vivian sucked in her breath as her brows furrowed in confusion. She couldn’t recall how she got the scar. Mr. Dixon pressed a button on the wand and placed it close to her skin. A blue light was cast on her elbow, and within moments the gash healed on her own.

"Rhi, are you a squirter?!" I completely avoided eye contact as I quietly took the buckets from her and added a little water to scrub them clean. "I'm pretty sure Mia and I can fill in the blanks. What about marking?" Izzy asked with a smile as she looked at the fresh marks that were on the outside of the ones she gave me. I reached up and placed my fingertips on the two freshly healed scars. "Painfully erotic, and I think I fucked up." Izzy and Mia looked at each other before looking back at me.

I was horrified and looked at the scars with devastation. “That curse is horrible,” I whispered in terror. “It is; I kept to myself after the war. I didn't want anyone around until my grandfather found a solution for it and created the concoction to slow the growth of the scars. It's worked ever since; they pretty much stayed closed until—” Izan immediately fell silent, and I understood what he was going to say. “Until I showed up,” I said grimly. “Your scars react to me because of the curse involving me.”
