one of them was saying, loud enough to carry, “I’ve watched the video like fifteen times, it never stops being funny.”
“It’s been two weeks,” Jace said, flat, clearly having heard some version of this joke enough times already to have lost all patience for it.
“It’ll be funny in two years too.”
“Great. Something to look forward to.”
“Come on, man, own it. Own the fall. It’s part of your legacy now.”
“My legacy is currently a nine second video where I face plant on my own team’s ice.”
I don’t know exactly what made me say something. It happened before I’d fully decided to do it, the words leaving my mouth almost independent of any conscious choice, my body reacting to some instinct I hadn’t c
