It was the day that Jack had been dreading. His birthday. He was 18 today. He had to leave the only home he had ever known, Old George Orphanage. Once an orphan had reached the age of 18, they were no longer able to stay. It was time to spread their wings and see what the world had to offer. However, Jack wasn't the only orphan being thrown out in the world today. His best friend, Jill, would be right there beside him. Today was also her birthday. 18 years old today. They'd been at Old George for as long as either could remember. Neither Jack nor Jill knew much of their past. Hell, they didn't know who they were or where they'd actually come from. He says, and I look around, seeing only Leon and Ella still sitting on the grass, talking about the cosmos, the most random conversation I had heard that day. “Okay, what’s happening?” I ask, hopeful. In the background of the screen, I see a landscape full of trees, the sound of a helicopter, and several people hurrying around. “We found them.” I break into a huge smile, happy with what he’s telling me. I see Mahjub put a finger to his lips to silence me. “Now pay attention, no one knows we found them. We'll keep it that way until we catch those responsible.” I nod and look towards the mansion.

What are you doing? Geni: Laundry. Want some company? Me: I know what you're trying to do. I'm fine. Geni: You're not fine. You've been moping around all week. He's an asshole. You need some fun. Me: Yes he's an asshole. But fun on my day off means Jamie Fraser in a kilt. Geni: Really. Which episode are you on? I heard Joey's voice even though the music was loud. "Hi, I'm Jake." Jake said, stretching out a hand, and I collected his handshake with a tiny smile on my face, without saying anything. "Joey has told me a lot about you." He smiled softly. This is the first time I'm actually having a conversation with Jake Twain. I have gotten no reason to talk to him because he goes around with the likes of Romeo. He doesn't sound rude like Romeo, I wonder how the two of them ended up being friends.

The TV was showing a rerun of the Friends series that no one seemed to be paying attention to. I hid behind the door to see what was going on. David, also known as Mad-Dave was screaming in Jackson's face. Mad-Dave was another trouble maker around here; he was a pest, to say the least. He always tried to sexually harass the nurses and his mouth was fouler than a rotten egg. He was saying something about Jackson's sister who I wasn't sure if she even existed. He said a word so vile that I wished I was deaf before listening. Dave's partner in crime, Owen was laughing to whatever Dave was saying while Cody, the Man-Child was seated on the floor right in front of the screen, watching television,

Traditions ran deep and rules were strict. Jake was twenty eight. Tall with strong shoulders from years of working on the family farm and in the workshop. He had dark messy hair and eyes that seemed to see too much. He lived in the house with his parents and his younger brother. But the one who made everything complicated was his cousin Ryan.

"I did..." his cheeks take a redder color. "I didn't have time to change from my pajamas before I saw your car rolling in," he looks at me, grunting. "Hello, I'm Jake. Nice to meet you." Instead of hugging me, he shoves a gigantic hand toward me and blinks down at me with, once again, that trademark intensity the brothers share —I think the intimidation gene runs in the family. Also, why the fuck are they all giants?!

I felt like approaching him to introduce myself or at least get his name, but I had to resist my feelings. Just staring at him from a far distance was okay. But I imagined myself hugging him. How I wished that fascination would be a reality, my first crush. Jake, that was his name. He is in his second year in high school, and he is a vocalist. He performs at a band called The Jackson Fellas with his troop of friends, Ray, Nicky, Troy, and Bruce. Jake was leaning by the stairs chatting with his bandmates. While Jake doesn't have any social media, his brothers wasted no time adding me to theirs and since I've got at least a few hours alone, I take the opportunity to go through each of theirs, looking for any pictures of Jake. The first one I look at is Lloyd's and I wonder if Jake even realises how many pictures of him are on here. In the earlier ones he has no tattoos but still looks just as disinterested in the people around him. Despite this, the comments from other kids are mostly asking who he is and whether he's single.
