She tried to run towards me but another held her down.
She screamed as one of them lunged for me, then stopped mid-air, slammed backward by something invisible.
Gunfire. Two sharp shots.
Then silence.
Within seconds, three of Xavier’s men appeared, black-clad and efficient. The rogues were on the ground before they could shift.
“Luna,” one of them said, bowing slightly, “are you hurt?”
I blinked, breathing hard. “You… who sent you?”
The man didn’t hesitate. “Alpha’s orders. We were told to keep watch until you were safely inside. We apologize for not making ourselves known sooner, however, we did not expect things to escalate this way.”
