Inside it is a box, I lift the lid off of the box to reveal a collection of books with titles I instantly recognise. "Jane Austen's books, all first editions" Rhode tells me softly as I pull my hand back away from the covers, just as I was about to touch them. I can't believe it, I can't believe they're just here in front of me, just sitting in my lap. "No way" I gasp quietly and look up at him in disbelief. These must have cost him a fortune, on top of being nearly impossible to track down. Tears are immediately springing to my eyes, a very regular occurrence for me these days.

I whisper not wanting to disturb other people in the store "Jane Austin again!" Lexi laughs. "look she kinda ruled the classics era, you know," I say with a shrug. I take a look at the books Lexi was caressing a minute back." any good read in the modern romance?" I point at the books assembled in the rack right in front of her. "oh yeah, I am a big collen hover fan. I mean verity and ugly love are my favorites of all," she reaches for a book and hands it over to me.

Things at school have returned to normal, and Bane still abuses me, only he makes sure he does not hit my face, and if he does, it's only a slap, and Bane does not hit hard enough to leave a mark. I finished my novel, and since I have nothing better to do, I plan to read my favorite book, The Pride and Prejudice, By Jane Austen; I have read it many times, and I love romance between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. It makes me wish that I could live in such a beautiful Novel; I long to be loved like all the characters I read about, but I know that it never happens for someone like me; I need to learn to accept that this is my life. At her feet, there were four books. All written by Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice. Sense and sensibility. Persuasion. Emma. She had another book open in her hands, and when she looked up at me, flashing me a smile that showed off her perfect pearly white teeth, my heart skipped. She was angelic. For a moment, I didn't move. Couldn't. I didn't speak either – just stood there gawking at the beauty of her. She must have thought I was awkward.

I know the dialogs by hard and yet, I still enjoy it every time I rewatch it. “It’s based on a book...” “By Jane Austen, I know,” I reply with a cocky smile. “It was my mother’s favorite novel in the whole world. I actually was named after that book.” “You were?!” He exclaims amused. “I’m surprised that you like this movie... it’s kind of cheesy,” I point out.

I wanted to read, to do something that reminded me of normalcy. I looked at my growing shelf of books and decided to pick Pride and Prejudice. It was one of my favorite books as I was a sucker for romance novels. I flipped to the first page and began. "It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that a man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

Pride & Prejudice is in the public domain; however, giving credit where credit is due, it is the work of the absolutely brilliant Jane Austen. Anything you recognize is hers, the rest is mine. I'm just taking the opportunity to shake things up a bit. Or rather take the good fortune and coincidence scattered throughout the work and cranking it up a notch or three. Chapter 1

The inside of the vehicle was hot because of the heater and he was suffocating with all the clothes he had to wear to cover himself. He arrived at the literature faculty and headed to the auditorium. The professor was talking about one of the most popular works in England. Pride and Prejudice. Jane Austen was one of his favourite authors because she wasn't afraid to write and describe things as she saw them in real life. He smiled because he knew everything the professor was saying. After all, he had already read all her books, maybe twice or more. In order not to waste time, he opened his book; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Well, aren't you his fan? "Do you have something else in mind?" he asks in a normal tone of voice, ignoring my question. How rude! I scowl, but I’m hardly affected. "Um . . . Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen," I tell him. "Or maybe . . . Sense and Sensibility?" I contradict my own choices, and he smiles at it. "Is Jane Austen your favorite?" he asks, a sweet glow in his cool eyes. "If we're speaking of Classic romance, then yes, she's my favorite. I prefer happy ending than tragedies, and Jane Austen always grants my wish." I go dreamy; oblivious of whom I'm talking to.
