There was a knock on her door, “Who’s there?” “It’s me.” He opened the door. “Ellaine—” “I go by the name of Inwë now.” She should draw the limits now. “Are you going back to Earth?” It hurt Finrod’s pride to hear himself asking pathetically. “Yes.” Inwë turned her back. She can’t take seeing Finrod’s face a bit longer when she was about to go home. She’s afraid she can’t leave him. But she had to pull herself together. They can never be. Then she stepped fully into the light. “I will put it on her,” she said. “But only if you let me walk to her first. Alone.” Lila considered the offer. She nodded once. Jenna walked forward. The dock creaked under her boots. She stopped three feet from Lila. Lila held out the collar. Jenna took it.
