Because of what he said, I want to laugh. Is he already insane? Why is he so irritated because I wounded myself with the knife? I produced a serious expression to demonstrate that I was not amused by what he said. I pretended it wasn’t a big deal and then joined in on his joke.

“Stop being a fucking coward.” Joker’s face hardened. His ice-blue eyes looked even more white and deadly than usual. He placed both hands on my chest, pushing me backward. “You don’t know shit! Shut the fuck up and get out!” He pointed to the door, and the rest of his body looked visibly shaking.

He revels in it, his laughter echoin' through the room, fillin' the space with a twisted sense of joy. “Ya an asshole,” I mutter, unsure of what else to say, feelin' the weight of the situation pressin' down on me. “Oh, I’m hurt!” Joker exclaims, his hand flyin' up to his heart in mock agony. “Ouch,” he adds with an exaggerated pout, clearly enjoyin' every second of this. I roll my eyes at his theatrics. “I might need to tell my daughter ya bad for 'er,” he laughs.

"If you keep teasing me, I dare you... I am not going to talk with you even if you expose your naked body." I just laugh at him, scratching my head when seeing him defensive. He's really cute. "Fine but I notice that you are different from JM." "What do you mean?" He asks. "He's very serious in many ways and I can't make even a joke when I'm with him. He's just going to punish me." "What can I say, he's a serious man." "I know. Wait what is his name?" He hums, caressing his chin with his fingers as if he's thinking and to the fact that he knows his husband well.

Something definitely feels fishy about this. I tighten my fist and gather my courage, ready to speak my thoughts out loud when I freeze. Gone is the devilish look on his face and instead, now, he stands there looking extremely serious as if he meant every word he said. The intimidating look on his face makes me gulp and it is enough to do away with all the doubts. A man like him, dangerous and cold, wouldn't be making jokes with me about this. Maybe, he doesn’t possess any humor at all!

His eyes locked onto mine. “If he ever hurts you again…” His words dropped like a stone in my chest, and I froze. “I will willingly kill.” I blinked. Shock stole my breath. My first reaction was disbelief. Then, against my better judgment, I let out a laugh. It was harsh, incredulous, but it came out anyway. “You… already know how to joke now, huh?” Jaron’s lips twitched, almost the ghost of a smile, but his voice remained steady, calm, and terrifyingly sincere. “I’m not joking.”

“You really want me to say it here?” I exhaled sharply through my nose. “Hey, how about you forget I said something like that?” He blinked fast, like I’d slapped him. “What? Are you kidding?” “Have I ever joked with a serious face?” I asked, meeting his eyes at last. “Do I even make jokes?”

Was he being serious right now? I was livid to say the least. “Are you fucking joking right now?” I roared, but he smirked even though my eyes were shooting daggers at him. “Do you think this is funny to me?” No answer. “I fucking hate you.” I slapped his chest, pushing him hard until he was nearly tumbling over. But he recovered fast and regained his composure. His smile dropped at my words and only then did he realize how serious I was. “Fuck! I’m sorry. That was stupid of me. I just...”

I wanted to know if I was hearing him correctly, if maybe my own ears had deceived me, if perhaps this was some kind of cruel twisted joke, but one quick look at his face told me his words carried no joke at all, nothing even close. He was as serious as he could possibly be and I could barely control the bitter laugh that tore itself from my throat. I laughed, right in his face while he stood there with that same cold brooding expression, just standing there studying me like I was some kind of puzzle. I finally managed to catch my breath as I said, “are you perhaps insane or completely out of your mind?”
