Dia was laughing at her own bad joke about Adrian’s cold stares.
I was half-laughing, half-spilling whiskey on myself.

I looked at her, blinking slowly. “Maybe because you forgot to be.”
She frowned. “Be what?”
“Be yourself. Whoever the hell that is. You tried so hard changing just to meet someone's expectations to the point that you had forgotten who you really are.”
