Though he held up a smile, his tone dripped with sarcasm. “Screw you.” I pushed myself up on my feet, lifting my hand to flick him off with my middle finger before I pushed back the tendrils of hair that had managed to make its way out of the bun I’d put it into, framing the front of my face—no doubt, after being tossed in the air again for the umpteenth time in just one morning. A small, barely noticeable laugh escaped Cassain’s slightly parted lips—one of the few instances he actually allows himself to enjoy the moment—unfortunately, it just has to be when I get my ass kicked my him again, and again, and a hella times more.

Her broad nose and smile created an expressive face, probably harkening back to some sort of Pacific Islander heritage. "Stop encouraging them," Kelsey scolded. "They're acting a fool because you keep laughing." Felecia chuckled. She couldn't help it. Harper winked at her over the top of his mug as he drained the last of his coffee. Lucas turned out to be annoyingly good at the assignment. “You’ve overcomplicated question three,” he said, tapping my worksheet. “I have not.” “You’ve basically written a university thesis.” “I like details.” “You like making simple things difficult.” “I do not.” He laughed. “You absolutely do.” I tried to stay annoyed. I failed. Five minutes later he had me laughing over some ridiculous joke about Mr. Donnelly secretly being a Cold War veteran despite clearly not being old enough. The laugh escaped before I could stop it—real and loud enough that a few classmates looked over. Including Kai.

Killian cracks up at his own joke while Sebastian doesn't look that impressed by his useless skill of making pun out of everything. "Ha Ha. So funny. Why don't you start doing stand up comedy?" Sebastian mocks dryly, secretly smiling a little when his eyes fall on Killian's hunchback, who is ready to topple over due to his laughter fit. "I don't want people to go out of business, you know. I'm a very compassionate man. " Killian replies proudly, not letting Sebastian's sarcasm affect his mood. After Sebastian points out how Killian's habit of making a pun out of everything is getting out of hand, they share a moment of silence before Killian goes to clean the kitchen.

fierce? Hayes, on the other hand, was laughing. "That's more like it." He pulled off his leather jacket and tossed it onto a nearby chair. He rolled his shoulders. "I'd hate to let you have all the fun." Then he charged into the fight. He grabbed one of the men from behind and pulled him backward. The man stumbled. Hayes kicked the back of his knee and he dropped instantly. Hayes grinned. "Too slow." Nova glanced at him. "Don't get in my way."
