She blinks, then a frown crosses her face, and she bites her bottom lip.
“That’s odd,” she says, shaking her head. “I saw the beast again, and it communicated with me. But it said something in Russian and I understood it somehow.”
“What did it say, Caterina?” I plead with a heavy heart, dreading what she could have found out. A blush covered her cheek.
“Don’t laugh at my mispronunciation, okay?” she says. I blink, then chuckle at her innocence.
“I won’t, I promise,” I say, hoping that my words would at least be reassuring enough for her. She acknowledges, then speaks again.
